Beauty. One fine day,I woke up to beauty. Beaut

Beauty.

One fine day,I woke up to beauty.

Beauty of the angelic flowers around me,

Beauty of the nestlings on the highest branch of Gulmohar, standing near the side street forming a magnificent canopy.

Moreover,I woke up to the beauty of adulthood.

And since that fine day,when I started dreading on he path of womanhood,I learnt the different meanings of beauty.

Beauty started changing it's meaning accordingly in my life,

I started caring more about the opinions of other's,keeping the voice of my heart shut tight.

Slowly I realized,

‘Beauty wasn't just about our face’.

Our skin colour,bosom,hair and haunches too were in this race.

Now I was getting confused between the things to be done and not done.

Because recently the girl next door was teased for being over sized;

And Amaira's boyfriend broke up complaining,that her snake hipped body was such a sight of plight.

I was trying to analyze and understand such societal discrimination.

To answer all the wierd questions with my limited knowledge and reason.

When suddenly,I saw my mom change too, applying all kinds of beauty products on my face that she could brew.

She too was trying to define beauty again,I guess

Attempting to make me much more beautiful than the creator himself could ever, create and bless.

To meet up to the expected beauty standards of the society,I had almost stopped feeling how it felt to be free.

I applied all the lipsticks and mascaras to prove my beauty,but it never failed to make me feel wee.

Some couldn't accept my bold nail-paints,the others disapproved of my semi pixie-hair cut;

Most of them stared finding faults in my upbringing, setting me as a perfect example of over sufficient guts.

And on one fine night, when I had almost reached towards the end of my journey of being a woman,

I decided to make a new definition of the word 'Beauty’, precisely for me.

Because I had realized no matter what i did for an eyeful acceptance, I'll always be lesser than what they want me to be.

For I've known,grace, elegance and grandeur isn't all that I need to posses.

Simplicity, intelligibility and modesty have their own ways to surpass the rest.

It was a beautiful journey all together,of finding beauty and fools in unision;And towards the end I know,days are beautiful but nights, they furthermore help us comprehend.

By breaking all the strangulating shackles of the society to make myself feel less worthy, I've finally found my beauty for me.

I've finally become the woman I wanted to be. My Beauty,for me. #poetry #nojotojaipur
