The more I think of it, the more it makes me think less. The phrase "what would people think or say" is no longer allowed to cross the borders of my skull and ribcage. my mind and heart are so in love with me for the (much needed) demarcation made. I no longer feel the need to please a bunch of co existing beings simply because they can witness my existence.
When attacked with a "what would people say", Ask yourself,
Does it really matter?
Do you think they care?
How and why does that affect you?
What do YOU want?
Why exactly is somebody else's thinking moulding your thought process? What has their thoughts got to do with yours?
Weren't we all intentionally made different?
What's left of you if you don't play the protagonist in your own life? What's even left if your life revolves around somebody else's perception?
Whats even left of you if YOU are not the first that matters to you.
Most of all, nobody notices the minute details of you the way you do. Because it is you who is insecure.
Even if any of your insecurity comes in contact with somebody else, they'd hardly care. Because they're busy heeding their own scars and bawling over their own insecurities.
You're fretting over what nobody gives a damn about.
People who genuinely care about you, wouldn't care about the number of flaws you're nursing. And people who don't, wouldn't care enough to pay heed to any of you.
Do you still care?

People are not going to like the way you speak blatantly. Speak anyway
They're not going to like the way you're extra picky with your words with the fear of hurting somebody's sentiments. Be picky anyway
They're not going to like the way you're silent at most times. Be silent anyway
They're not going to want you to be the kind of person you are. Be anyway
They're going to pull you down. Rise anyway
They are going to dislike you for not having the same perspective as theirs. Stick to yours anyway.
They're going to want to hurt you. Smile anyway
They're gonna do everything to seek your attention. Ignore anyway
They're gonna try hard to make you feel bad about yourself. Don't anyway.
People are never gonna stop doing what they want to. You shouldn't either.
They're always gonna dislike you if that's what their intention is to.
Remember, you're not obliged to fit into the picture they've painted nor does your picture needs to cater to their preferences.

But people are not necessarily going to be the wrong ones. At some point, it'll be you. People will continue to speak what they have to and they're gonna be right this time. but they still don't get to decide for you and that still doesn't mean you defend your wrong doings to save yourself from the embarrassment of accepting the truth.
Be brave enough to acknowledge your mistakes and learn from it.
Don't be a fool to let them take over you nor be a coward by choosing to stay wrong (if you are) only for the sake of opposing them.
Be who you are and what you wanna be but with all the right intentions.
Remember, we, at some point in life, become the "people" we're talking about FOR the people we're talking about.
