Meet Inna Bugeja, An amazing artist who uses glass as the object to project her imagination and convert it into something really amazing & breath-taking.
We recently caught up with Inna for a discussion where she discusses her life, her inspiration, her motivation, her love for glass painting and much more.
Nojoto Team: Hi Inna, describe yourself. Imagine writing a story on Nojoto.
Inna: I was born in Ukraine in 1979 and developed an early interest in art. Art has always been a part of my life.
Since I was 7, I went to different type of schools – arts, music (playing guitar), singing, dancing, and drawing. And I realized at age 10 that most of all, what I like is to draw.
I have been studying painting in an art school of Ukraine since last 5 years.
In school, I studied different techniques of drawing and have tested many materials that can be used for painting. Few which I tested are: canvas, ceramic, wood, iron and glass. And of course my love and my favorite is glass.
Nojoto Team: From where did you get the inspiration for drawing? What motivated you? — Any person or a situation in particular?
Inna: After my marriage in Malta and the birth of my child, I didn't had enough time to do my art. I have a
wonderful family, the best husband, a lovely baby. I had a happy family life, until I realized that I did not
seem to have enough of something inside of me.
All I had was good, but I felt as if my soul was empty. I realized that I need to grow creatively – and need to
listen beautiful music, should start reading interesting books, and meet creative people.
Years later, when my daughter grew up - I felt that I need to pick up my art on glass.
Nojoto Team: How did your parents, friends, school, hometown influence your passion for your art?
Inna: My husband always support me and encourage me my artwork. Sometimes when I start painting on glass, I just can't stop. I can paint for 16 hours without a break. It looks like I am in another dimension. He understands that my art is really important for me, so he helps me and motivates me to improve.
Nojoto Team: How do you take out time to follow your passion?
Inna: Night is my time. I can focus & paint at night because it is all quiet, and everyone in my family is also asleep, so that’s the time when I am in creative mood and follow my passion of painting on glass.
Nojoto Team: Why did you picked up Glass Painting only and not anything else?
Inna: I understood that glass is the material on which I want to paint, because Glass as a material can be worked in so many ways. Its ability to transmit and reflect light adds another layer of intrigue and meaning to the art. There is no other material with gives so many options to the artist.
I am using 3 different types of paints - transparent, opaque and pearl colours which are makes light effects.
Nojoto Team: What is the most fulfilling thing when you share your artwork with others?
Inna: I really appreciate when other talented people comment on my art. I love to hear both good and bad comments, and that's how I can learn and improve next time.
Nojoto Team: How do you go about creating your art — starting from thinking about it — to imagining about it — to actually doing it? Describe the creative process, which you take generally?
Inna: I love Night, Full Moon, Magic... I turn on relaxing music. In that moment I am in a Creative Mood and I ready to create my art.
Nojoto Team: What types of art you have experimented with?
Inna: Long time ago I tried to paint on a canvas. But the glass painting and painting on canvas are a different feelings. Glass painting is very slow work and it is exactly for me because I like when it takes time, so that I can indulge in to it.
Nojoto Team: What is your most favorite style of art?
Inna: My favorite is to mix the colors between each other.
Transparent with opaque, transparent with pearl or opaque with pearl.
With all these actions I can make different light effects such as - shadow, drop of water, 3D effect etc.
Nojoto Team: Are you an extrovert or an introvert?
Inna: I cannot exactly say if I am an extrovert or an introvert. When I am in my creative mood and I painting - I am an introvert. It is one side of me.
And another half is extrovert - I like meet new people. I love my Life which is full all different colours. We create our Life that is why most of my art are full of bright colours.
Nojoto Team: What is the most interesting comment/feedback you have got about your art and from whom?
Inna: One time I showed my painting called "Through the Rain" to an Art Teacher and asked for her advice.
She said it is incredible - how I got the effect of a wet road, glowing windows and the painted flowers with the effect of 3d and then she asked me to show some more of my techniques of the glass painting.
Nojoto Team: If you could do one thing for the World, what would it be?
Inna: I would like to paint the world in bright colors.
Nojoto Team: What is “your” favorite work till now?
Inna: My Favorite work till now Glass Painting called "Life and Soul". This painting means a lot to me. This is my soul, my spirit, my creative mood...
Nojoto Team: — If given 1 million dollars, what you want to do?
Inna: We all have an inner world that is quite distinct from the outer world. It is the world we meet when we have an emotional reaction, an idea, or close our eyes and live in our fantasies, imagination or dreams.
Rich person stops thinking about his inner world. That person thinking just about money. So I afraid to have a lot of money because I afraid to lose myself. What can I do with 1 million dollars is to give to person who is more competent in this matter.
Nojoto Team: What do you love about Nojoto? And why do you like it?
Inna: Why I love "Nojoto"? Because "Nojoto" loves me ;)
I feel that I am on it since the beginning and now it feel looks like a big family who cares about each other and I feel like I'm part of this friendly, positive, caring family.
There are a lot of talented people from whom I can learn something new and interesting. We are so far from each other, but through "Nojoto" we get a little closer.
It's interesting to know the world, another world without leaving home just by using Interest Based Social Network called "Nojoto".
Nojoto Team: What is your message for other people who are young and have a passion for a particular interest?
Inna: Never give up! If you have a dream then follow it. Setting goals is important for reaching your dreams. Successful people set goals and reach them step by step.
Team Nojoto: “Inna joined Nojoto’s family in very early days when we just started. She has the most amazing profile on Nojoto. She used “Collection feature” of Nojoto, in the way we thought not many people might understand.
She has 6 beautiful collections in Traditional Arts – where each collection has a different life of its own – and has a different dimension. Words are not enough, to understand – you will have to check out her profile on Nojoto.

We wish Inna’s artwork inspires millions of people to follow their passion, their interest.”
How Cricket can be even cooler sports than what it is now? What are the some of innovative ideas?
Look one can have plenty of cool ideas about Cricket, will ICC listen? Will every board members agree to that? The major power player is BCCI, now in country like ours where we don't like change, even ideas like T10Is for only Olympic games also get sidetracked. People of India are also not really comfortable with any change. One needs to push it to them, remember first T20I WC in SA, well before that tournament, BCCI wasn't ready to play by saying T20I was a joke, Indian people also kind of went with that as they follow most often our former cricketer say, fortunately BCCI voted out in the meeting, and rest is history. Now look at Indian public's craze with T20Is. Because Indian people most often don't know what they want. Ask most Indian about T10Is only for Olympic as even 3 hr of T20Is are long for Olympic, they will say they hate the ideas. They said same thing about T20Is as well. Actually the problems with Cricket are tradition and nostalgia and it's clash with this modern world. At certain points of time ICC and BCCI need to choose between keeping the old fans satisfied or creating completely new age fan base who weren't interested in cricket before by creating new version of Cricket which more interesting and eye catching than before for even those who doesn't have any ideas about Cricket before.
I mean look at old test cricket loving crowds in Australia and England. What will happen after 10 years from now, when most of them will be dead?
No one knows answer to this question.
First of all, if you look at world sports, glamour sells and it sells well in sports.
I mean anyone can see woman's tennis obvious popularity now, and it's sheer level of competitiveness, but is it always like this?
A big no
Glamour started to bring attention and money in the sports and then gradually women's tennis competitiveness hit the roof.
Some things similar could be done for women's Cricket. Conservative ideas won't help anyone here.
There should be a group in ICC whose prime job is to research on Cricket and build some new ideas to make it more interesting and innovative and exciting for the new crowds, they should research on Cricket to bring new kind of thinking to change the game forever, they should research why particular group of people in particular part of the world like particular game, what is the thinking behind that kind of mentality, how they could be interested in cricket, what general Cricket fans are thinking about the game, what they want, how they want game to change, maybe they should learn from other sports- what is working for other sports, bring that into Cricket etc etc etc etc etc etc
For test cricket:
Cricket specially test cricket is based on certain factors like patience etc where percentage of that happening from people are very low. Let's add to that 5 day long test cricket in today's day and age . And you get ignorance and ridiculing from people and even from those test playing nations. Test cricket lover always say that test cricket is like those traditional setar music whereas T20Is are more like hip hop.
But is it really???
Or is it more complex than that?
See people are very participatory nature in their core even though the whole concept of test cricket will drive away most people these days and that should be expected not to be surprised about but people end of days like to see their team is playing and participating and competing and competing hard even if the level of cricket is not exactly up to mark to the purist test cricket lovers.
What exactly my point here?
It's very simple.
Former cricketer always talk about balance between bat and ball , yet they never do anything about it pushing convention wisdom AKA with innovative thought process.
What is exactly going on now in limited over's cricket?
There's some invisible structure where 40% of matches are played on extremely flat surface and rest of 60% matches played on three types pitches - slow(20%), turning(20%), seaming(20%).
But in test cricket it is extremely opposite such as bowling favoured pitch since the perception is that limited over's cricket is only played on flat surface therefore test cricket should be played on bowling favoured pitch otherwise bowlers will disappear.
But it just different tone from the past era when test cricket was played on flat surface otherwise it is very same. It just two sides of a same coin.
While it is very hard to make test cricket viewers friendly in today's day and age. But one can try and do by pushing the conventional wisdom.
How is that possible?
Well first of all stop trying to pretend that test cricket is a simple game.
It is not. It is the most complex game in the world.
So rather than trying to be something that test cricket is not , I say test cricket should hold on to it's best attributes that it is a complex game therefore innovate rules from that point of view to make this game more multi dimensional and contest worthy in every single matches.
It should not matter which team is playing against which team.
Since pitch is such a big deal in test cricket , let's make rules based on according to every kind of pitch that a cricket game can offer.
This should be the job for match referee since most of the time they are not super busy in Cricket game. They should handle this complex responsibility of cricket rules with accordance to cricket pitch to bring out it's multi dimensional nature.
Situation no 1>
If the pitch is absolutely flat and nothing is happening allow the bowlers to push the envelope of conventional wisdom of cricket rules. Allow ball tampering to an certain extent to reverse swing the ball both ways and allow Spinners to bowl with illegal action to bring different varieties like dusra etc to cause problems for the batsman in a bowlers graveyard. There are lots of theory and calculation out there today which wasn't earlier to predict the pitch better than ever before so this should not be that hard for match referees.
Situation no 2>
If pitch is too slow and nothing is happening. Allow the bowlers to do exactly like in situation 1 but also make sure the boundary limit is ridiculously small(extremely small) to give a ‘kick start' advantage to test batsman to play more attacking cricket since most of them are devoid of great stroke making ability to suit the test cricket.
Situation no 3>
If pitch is seaming like in England or South Africa or in New Zealand, allow the boundary limit just like in situation 2 to favour the batsman to play more attacking cricket.
Situation no 4>
If pitch is turning like in Indian subcontinent, allow the boundary limit just like in situation 2&3 to favour the batsman to play more attacking cricket.
This will almost make sure that the percentage of draw become almost non existent.
This is a creative idea which you have the option to disagree with but remember something is always better than nothing and this will also make sure small teams to come into the game big way in test cricket and everyone, I mean everyone will have their opportunity to eat the pie and that of course include big teams.
But is it going to make test cricket very popular?
I don't think so.
Is it going to make better test cricket for everyone , I mean not just the big teams but even for the small teams- I believe so.
What do you think?
For ODIs :
What exactly do we want from ODIs, we want to see two teams are contesting hard inspite of their unequal power of strength as it should not matter which team is playing against which team. I have a solution for this, but a warning it will sound complicated so read carefully, truth is if you want to make Cricket matches one sided contest free then we don't have much options but the complicated ways as Cricket is designed to be one sided.
In ODIs a bowler's limitation is 10 overs, but there are circumstances when bowler is bowling superbly but in rest of the bowling line up, few are okay and few are having a off day. To counter this situation, one option is that best bowler from that day can bowl upto 20 overs or in another option two of the best from the rest can bowl 15 overs each and rest can bowl either remaining 30 overs or 20 overs with 10 overs limit respectively or as another option go back to traditional five bowlers 10 over max rule. The bowling captain needs to decide and let umpire know after the chosen bowler or bowlers finished their first 6 overs. When one team goes to bat they should have the option of having two batsman from the reserve bench replacing any two bowlers from playing XI, when they go to bowl everything will be the way it was before. In a similar bowling team will also have the option to choose two bowlers from reserve bench replacing two batsman and when the bowling team will go to bat things will be the way they were before. Four bouncers in a over should be another nice option. When a team is all out they should have the option of playing their XI again but with each batsman coming to bat, there will be 60 runs penalty cut off from the total and this will be considered 2nd innings of that particular batsman in that match (Only for the batting team as this will farther complicate it for the bowling stats, so bowlers don't need any second innings)[Remember this second innings options can be used any situation not just when team is all out, for example suppose Virat Kohli has got out early with this rule he can bat again anytime but with 60 runs extra to the total as it has been cut off from the total as penalty for using the second innings options, yeah now it sounds very interesting], stats and average will be working according to that. This new rule will make sure both team & comparatively weaker team stay in the match and it will be multiplying their strength there by reducing the percentage of one sided contest. Because ODIs go on for long time therefore one sided contest is killing it. I believe this is the best cure at the moment.
See the idea is very simple, let's have one team whose strength is 100 and another team whose strength is 10 and you will know that who is going to win even before the match and with above mentioned ideas both team's strength will be multiplied at least hundred times which means even though the stronger team will win most occasions but game will be very close contested therefore one dimensional nature free. This is what people are looking for from ODIs and Cricket.
So How do you like this idea which you have the option to disagree with but remember something is better than nothing and it just a creative thought end of the days. You can add if you have something.
It was my first day at school.... my new school. Heard about it before that teachers are very strict, students are bold and fluent, no talk in Hindi only English is allowed otherwise, a thin cane is waiting to decorate your palms with beat marks, so yes I was scared. By the way, I am Kiara, a person full of curiosity and creativity. I was not mastero in speaking English but I was sure that I will learn. I entered the class labeled 7th standard.... now it's weird that instead of analyzing the class, my attention was dragged towards a boy behaving as if he has not seen girls before.... I mean he was not staring at but was behaving as he is alegeretic from them. It was Rohan.... although I don't like judging people or making advance perceptions but at that very moment, I didn't like him or to be honest I hated him.......
Classes started and with time all unknown became friends.... oh again let me clarify, girls and boys became friends not among them but within them separately. Now there are two groups.... girls gang and boys gang. Simultaneously we all were divided into different houses.... I was in Yellow, my favorite colour and he was in Yellow, my not so favorite and that too the HOUSE CAPTAIN. I don't know what was his problem.... why he is always like "I me aur mein". He don't speak nicely, he don't walk nicely, he don't behave nicely, he don't smile nicely.... actually he is a jerk.
It's gonna be fun.... fest week is going to start and I am super excited for so many things race, relley, kho-kho, high jump, dance and March past. We started practicing long ago for March Past as it's all about coordination here. Being a Captain, it was Rohan's duty to lead, command and along with that monitor the rest of the house while programmes. We were senior most in school so duties were alotted to us as well. I have to keep younger ones quite as told by so called Rohan.
Sports were started and we all pulled our socks, forgetting that who we HATE, came together to make YELLOW win. Girls won relley and kho-kho and boys won cricket but here comes the most dramatic scene when "Mr. Rohan was immediately taken to classroom after the match followed by school boys CRUSH Ms. Priya and few students including ME.... OK so I didn't go to check on him, it was my class too I had some work.... fine I wanted to see he is hurt or just acting. He shouted like hell when Ms. Priya tried to put dettol. I was curious to see how much he is hurt and I found the same thing which I was expecting.... a SCRATCH that's it, how can he create scene like daily soap over just a small scratch.... he behaved as if he is Rohini not Rohan. He saw me smiling at him and I continued as I love watching him like this.... ah no doubt he too don't leave any chance to bother me as he did the very next day.
I was trying to make children quite so I just said "keep quite otherwise your stupid Captain will come". He heard that.... I thought he would be angry or would not talk to me that we usually don't but Iiiiiii never imagined "what he did that day".... complained to Ms. Priya, like seeeeeeeriously. Are you kidding me.... you are grown up how can you do like nersery child, ahhhhhhhhhhhhh I HATE YOU.
With time things were settled, we got busy into boards and all. I never took any tution classes but in 12th standard I decided to join Nair Aunty's classes for Physics. Rohan also use to come there but this is not which I was bothered about. I was worried about my decision as my father use to teach me till now and I was scared if he will be hurt about my decision. We discussed things and he was fine with it.
At tution on my first day, Rohan was surprised to see me or I should say he was shocked and definitely not happy....... so do I, our friends were aware about this disliking for each other. I don't know but what just happened to my friend's, they use to poke me when Rohan arrives at classes......"look na you both are wearing same colour, see he is staring you and so on".
Boards were on head and atmosphere at home was very tensed. Here suddenly, parents realised their duties. Papa's have to hide laptop chargers, tabs, ipads and Mom's have to hide TV remote, novels. There was a strict rule "NO TV". In all this, I was confused because I started thinking about Rohan, his mischiefs, my fights with him, his stupisities.....his smile, his face, his.......WHAT is happening to me why I am thinking about him.
I tried diverting my mind and focus towards studies alongwith that I thought to figure it out after exams.
We were done with board exams and all other competitive exams also. Now this was the time when we were waiting for our results and college counseling. Our daily routine was to eat, sleep and roam with friends. There were no studies as we don't know what to study, there were no hiding of entertainment stuff, it felt like heaven.......
I figured out the Rohan's matter, I decided to tell him that I think "I love you". I told this to one of our common friend Meera, she told me that Rohan already have a girlfriend. I was broken and there were so many filmy lines which were coming to my mind......"mera pelha pyar adhura reh gaya", "tujhe yaad na meri aayi kisise ab kya kehna", "tu pyar hai kisi aur ka tujhe chahta koi aur hai", "aacha chalti hoon duaooo mein yaad rakhna......". Then I thought to tell him because atleast I will be ok that I told him......
On 9th December, 2011 @ 06:00 PM, I called him and yes Rohan was shocked about my call, I said "I LOVE YOU". Rohan said "I have a girlfriend". I said "I KNOW", I told him "I hope the way you love her, she also do". He took a pause and said "I think so". The call was dropped and I was happy not because I told him but because "if he didn't say YES then also he didn't say NO". We moved on with college. He went Ahemdabad and I went Kelera......
After completion of first semester, students were very happy as it was home coming after soo long. I was packing my bags and was so excited to meet my school friends and may be Rohan.......we reached hometown back to back and planned a reunion. Riya (my school friend) called me and said "Rohan was asking for your number". Ok now where were this comes from.......I asked "WHY". She said she has given my number. I was confused what he wanna say, Is he going to say I......... Naaaa he will not. I was pretty happy that Riya gave him my number as I got to know earlier "he broke up with his girlfriend".
At reunion, we all met and everything went on well. In the evening, Rohan called "I am sorry". I asked "Sorry for what". He said "Sorry because I didn't accept your proposal at that time". I said "Proposal???? it's ok, we were kids and now I imagine that how I proposed you......". We laughed over this thing but I was aware on back of my mind that I still love him and whatever I said was because I didn't want to make him uncomfortable.
Semester break was over and we went to our colleges. Rohan and I started talking on phone. I found him good and he found me practical. With time UG was completed, he started with job and I went for PG degree.
I am 24, have a job but planning to change. Here I am planning to start my career and there my parents are planning to get rid of me.......in simple words, they are planning to get me married which I don't want. All these years I focused on studies and was just not able to stop thinking about him. We talk sometimes and everytime I start loving him more. I imagine him when I am sad I imagine him when I am happy, his only thought brings smile on my face he is always with me I imagine him in every situation I make my own stories with him I fell for him more and more......
Finally on 15th February, 2018 @ 11:00 PM I called him......
Rohan: Hi, kaisa hai beta?
Kiara: (Oh I love him more when he calls me "beta", thinking in mind) Hi, Mein badiya tum kaise ho.
Rohan: I am good.
Kiara: I hope you were not sleeping and even if you were then wake up its quite important.
Rohan: If I say that I was sleeping than I know you won't let me so yeah.......tell me
Kiara: Ok so I am confused ahmmmmmmm Rohan what were you doing?
Rohan: I am pretty sure you didn't call me to ask this.......right?
Kiara: Ok so I just called to say......I mean ask......I mean say......
Rohan: Yeah tell me I am listening
Kiara: Wait a second I think on the back of your mind you know what am I gonna say?
Rohan: Yes but I want to hear it from you.
Kiara: (ab jab sammne wala aise reply karega toh aapko toh positive wines hi aayenge na, thinking in mind) Ok so I wanted......I will start from beginning OK
Rohan: Don't tell me tu mujhe lamba pakane wali hai.
Kiara: Shut up
Rohan: I was kidding beta
Kiara: So Rohan I use to hate you alot from 7th to 12th standard.
Kiara: Yes and then I don't know what just happened to me and I......
Rohan: Say it
Kiara: I like you
Kiara: Ok so I will give background music dhiding dhiding dhiding.......
Kiara: One more thing.......this is not a question I just wanted to tell you......I don't want any ANSWER from you I just wanna let you know
Rohan: I know you are not dying for me and you don't find me special but yes I am feeling special at this time.
Rohan: (after a long silence) Hey, I like you too because I can share anything with you, whenever I feel like talking I have you and trust me I don't want you to solve my problems with me......I just want you to sit with me and listen to me.
Kiara: Okk so now you are confusing me......there is a difference between your liking and mine.
Rohan:. Yes, there is a difference.
Kiara: You clarified your side now it's my turn......Rohan......no matter I am sad or happy I always imagine you.....if I have so many problems or if I have solution to each of them.....I just thik that you are with me.
Rohan: Wao I am proud of you because I would never be able to say and I am very glad you said this to ME.
Rohan: Well tomorrow I am leaving for cousins (our common family friend) wedding, you also come na I will be bored there alone.
Kiara: Naaaa you have fun
Rohan: (it's 12:07 PM) I want to say something I hope you will not scold me.....
Kiara: No I will not......tell me
Rohan: I am very sleepy
Kiara: Expected.......you can sleep
Rohan: I will call you once I reach to the wedding point.
Rohan: Bye beta
Kiara: (don't go......I love you, thinking in mind) Bye.......
I feel like getting him off my head and very next moment I feel like hugging him tightly. I know I love him and also I want to get over him. I will not call it a one sided love story......all I will call it is "a complete love story without an ANSWER".
Okay, I keep seeing these same kind of questions again and again on Quora.
Let me ask you a question instead
When you are asking this kind of question, what is your thinking behind it?
Are you asking because you feel bollywood movies look lame compared to Hollywood movies or is it the fact that you are simply fed up seeing from your childhood same kind of bad Hollywood copy bullshit from people like Karan Johar?
Whatever the reason maybe, do any of you can come up with an uniform idea what exactly do you want to see from bollywood movies?
I don't think so, you won't be able to agree to any one single idea
What does that tell you?
We don't have any clue what we want from bollywood movies
But we don't like it
Because we are a confused country
We are a mordern country based on mediaeval sentiment as a result we are constantly struggling between mordernity and nostalgia
When we watch a Hollywood movie, we ask ourselves subconsciously, why bollywood movies can't be like that?
Well, Karan Johar (I never liked any of his movies) also ask himself that :D
But he can't really make one like that either
He tries but it turns everytime into a stupid hollywood copy bullshit waste of time movie
Now, let's say that he is a bad movie maker but even if for arguments sake, let's say he is a decent movie maker, then why can't he make good movies?
Because people like him also confused what to do in India, just like it's viewers
First of all, there's no story in most of the bollywood movies, in students of year, he created college students that don't exist in India.
Sidharth Malhotra's character is supposed to be a guy from places like California who is after becoming adult moved away from his parents house and living in places like Miami, he is a rich kid which is why well groomed from childhood but now he is poor as he is working as bartender in Miami so basically a rich world scenario
Siddharth Malhotra's character is supposed to be like that
Now, imagine such character in India where even word sex is taboo
What an irony!!!
Karan Johar really wants to turn Mumbai into California but he can't really do that either
Ha, ha, too bad for him censor board will police him
So in a way, he feels his hands are tied behind his back therefore end product is stupid
Then why movies like that have certain fan base
Because we don't live in conservative religious world anymore
Due to internet, Indians can see world in their home
So in a conservative society, western liberal world is very interesting therefore Indians want that in India but unfortunately it is not possible as long as older generations are in power
Therefore they have to satisfy themselves seeing bullshit Karan Johar movie because we hate our conservative society and it's life style, we don't like to admit but everyone knows this :D
So there's always a demand for such movies in India
Karan Johar knows that
Another one is body shaming, women's skin showing and confusion around it in bollywood and it's viewers:
What is general argument against Bollywood? It's stereo type women body over sexualisation . Well even in western flims they do that very very well and with quite success. I am sure you know exactly what I am taking about here. Actually a universal truth is sex sells and it sells well. Naked women body is such fuss therefore. So those item song you see in bollywood they are very soft version of those sex comedy in Hollywood or other western flims. In India you will see two kinds of critique of Bollywood - one is against those sanskari babuji type flims and another against these objectification of women body. Yet most of them will have no problem watching western Erotica or flims with nudity. Rest will be ultra conservative , so they will probably be stay clear of these. The question is why? Well to give an answer to that question some of them will say that because the scene demands it and they showed it with maturity. That's absolutely bullshit statement. That's actually showing they have no idea what they are taking about- there is some basic difference between western public and Indian public. In the West , there has been sexual revolution. It did not happen here. So thinking process of both the civilization formed over completely different base.
In western countries, people can have sex almost in front of their parents and children. Women can take their top off in public place such as on bitch. Couple can make out in public places with hands everywhere. These are unthinkable in India. So when there's a sex scene in western flims or full frontal nudity, it's not a big deal to western public but it is to Indian public.
Then what is the difference- the whole sexual revolution came on the basis of rejecting the morality of constructive religion - in this case Christianity - one of the reason today orthodox Christian are the real minority in West. In the West people realised quite early that morality is makeshift thing which is created by ancient people to control the society so that it doesn't go chaotic as they had limited knowledge about things around them. It was a best thought in that circumstances. But with time they realised what are the weakness of makeshift thing like morality . They realised that one can only make the morality work in real life if they are aware of its limitations otherwise any thought process of thinking it as absolute could hault progress , evolution, innovative thought process and eventually end of human civilization. This is the kind of thinking brought sexual revolution.
Now in India people don't think this way. Most often people don't even know how to think this way. They are not even aware of this . So as a result what's happening - on one hand people like conservative things and on the other hand people with more global mixing thought process don't exactly know why they are criticising certain things and that is why they made up argument based on very weird circumstances so that their whole argument gets at time contradicted with their act. Because they don't have the basic understanding of certain things like western public , they are saying to themselves - this is what happens in West so you better suck it up.
The problem with the Bollywood is actually what is the problem with India. As I said before India is a modern country based on mediveal morality and religion. So people are confused with the clash of modernity and mediveal morality and religion. Most liberal people are also not completely out of this confused lot. Most often these people take certain positions which can be very modern in certain way but in other ways same old morality and religious pampering. Because they don't get this modern world like western public do as I said before because of their different base of thinking process.
This is why so much hue and cry over Indian movies.
Truth is Indian movies won't change as long as Indian society remains conservative religious and sensor board there to police them.
Movie makers think that ordinary Indian life style are boring so a story on Indian life style won't be that exciting hence there's so many biopic on interesting Indian character in recent times due to all this criticism in recent times and those period movies therefore dramatized to do some kind of glam up for the same reason as well irrespective of the fact that they know they are going to get flak for that and in a way that's good for publicity
But as long as ordinary Indian people's life style won't be interesting enough to show on silver screen, you will keep seeing same Karan Johar bullshit again and again because we have a lot of stories but they are not that interesting enough to sell
This is an unfortunate reality
Edit: Hinduism bashing in Bollywood is completely different, I need to write a different answer for that :D
