Ali (R.A) reports,"Whenever I heard a tradition from the Messenger of Allah.I acted upon it and Allah rewarded me for it as much as He wished.Whenever I heard a tradition from a companion of the Messenger of Allah,I put him under an oath.When he took the oath (that it was really said by the Messenger of Allah).I believed it and acted upon it. This tradition was transmitted to me by Abu Bakra(R.A) and he was hundred percent correct.He said,' I have heard the Messenger of Allah saying,"When a person commits a sin,then offers two or four Raka't after ablution,and begs pardon from Allah,Allah does forgive him." Then the Messenger of Allah recited the following verse,'Wallazeena Eeza Faaloo fahishatan auo zalamo.........(And those who,when they do an evil thing or wrong themselves remember Allah and implore forgiveness for their sins-Who forgiveth their sins save Allah only?And will not knowingly repeat the wrong they did).(Surah Al Imran-135). (Tirmidhi) Salat ut Taubah
