Passed hours holding you, thinking what to write. If any way I reached a conclusion, it was still tough to decide how to write you my dear diary. In the city of Amritsar, there lies a place, A site of tragedy, a massacre's trace, Jallianwala Bagh, its name we recall, A tale of horror, where innocent lives did fall. On that fateful day, in nineteen nineteen, A crowd had gathered, a peaceful scene, To protest laws, to seek freedom's light, But what they faced, was a brutal fight. General Dyer, with his men in tow, Arrived at the garden, ready to show, Their might and power, to crush the crowd, A display of force, vicious and loud. The gates were shut, the people trapped, No escape, no mercy, their fate mapped, The soldiers opened fire, with no restraint, A hail of bullets, an act so insane. Amidst the land of Punjab, Lies a tale of grief and pain, Of a massacre so cruel and heartless, That shook India's soul and brain. Jalianwala Bagh, the name it bears, A garden where flowers once bloomed, But on that fateful day of April, Blood flowed instead of perfume. The people gathered, a peaceful crowd, To voice their protest against the British rule, But the General in charge, with no mercy or heart, Ordered his troops to shoot and kill. Jallianwala Bagh, a scar so deep, A wound that time cannot fully heal, But we remember, we honor, we vow, To fight for justice, to never allow.
