Do I have ADHD? a question i asked myself when i read a thread of tweets on twitter by a woman who was trying to help her friend her tweets went viral that it reached the little pool of people I was following, my timeline, a feed of words and pictures i identified with some of those symptoms she mentioned in that instant i jumped to Google, eager to erase this suspicion people had created websites for it, ADHD blogs and articles it had to be popular to earn it's own website and fame i was a little amused at the thought that i never really knew of it's existence i had heard about it in a song that Joyner Lucas rapped with Logic "ADHD" i did not think much of it then until the tweet i had not heard about it, being mentioned in the classroom or discussed in the salon, marketplace, commercial buses like it was talked about mostly on social media especially by the white community my sister and I used to joke about how certain ailments were only popular with whites than people of colour Alzheimer, Schizophrenia, Bipolar disorder, ADHD it is almost felt as if it was made for them like malaria and AIDS were made for us the question I asked myself, I never got the answer to or rather i never found the courage to admit the answer even after reading those helpful articles and blogs i still could not shake away the feeling of looking for something to blame, something foreign for my laziness, forgetfulness, irritability maybe, just maybe it is not ADHD it is what it is and we move -nsoul adhd #wetogether
