"Here is the critical appreciation of my poem"A LOOK AT LIFE-21" by non-other than the eminent poet and internationally acclaimed literary critic Prof Cijo Joseph Channel. Thanks and gratitude sir for your brilliant words of appreciation Dear Smruti Ranjaniji, Your poem titled"A Look At Life-21" is a great exposition regarding the manifold interpretations of what it is meant to be independent. Independence is an internal mindset if we are free internally, everything comes around bit by bit and piece by piece. It is to be a way of life. To be in an independent state of affairs would mean love towards one another and respect for the dignities of others. Freedom does mean that we need to give importance to the freedom of others, it also does mean adherence to justice,fair-play and equality. Freedom is a positive attitude which generates positive vibes in the society. Freedom is all about a mentality to share and care for each other. Lack of fear is the first sign of freedom. Real freedom transcends above boundaries, borders, barriers, barricades, controls and bridles. Freedom is a concept that enlightens and encourages one and all. Freedom is all about the ability to absorb the manifold aspects of life without fear and favour and also without any bias or discrimination. When freedom attains these above-mentioned characteristics, then it becomes really a heaven of freedom indeed envisaged by the great poet of India, Tagore.Kudos to you for composing such a poem of exquisite nature. A LOOK AT LIFE-21
BY- SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY

Independence is a state of mind
A way of life
To be internalised and nourished
To make one independent
Of pride and prejudice
Hatred and jealousy
Violence and fanaticism
And all those negative emotions
That makes one badly respond
To whims and irrationality

It is beautifully reflected
In what you think
In what you do
How you approach life
And look at others
With whom you interact
With whom you do not

It is an atmosphere
That offers you the best
To be your own sell
An opportunity to flower and flourish
And make your dream a reality

It is not a licence
To do anything
You feel like
Is always subject to decency and morality
And others right to enjoy
The same with all dignity

Human beings are born to be free. Freedom is a perception to every single person. It is a concept to every one. Freedom is ability, it is a feeling. Freedom may be physical, mental or social. We lead everyday life with some basic question in our mind. At least once these questions have crossed every person's life i.e “Who we are?”, “What are we made of?”, “Are we really Free?”. Perhaps thousands of years have passed we are still searching for the answer.

Who are we?

"I was free, feeling relax and was happy, No tension, no fear as soft as a newborn baby. People around were enjoying, embracing the love with smiles on their face, Surrounding was cool, the air was soft and I was ready to go for the race. Suddenly they came with the sound of gun and said I will give you freedom, The smile on my face went off, I was confused about the freedom. They threatened, snatched my earnings, for they would give me the freedom, With Tears on my eyes I obeyed , I was confused about the freedom. with a gun on my head, they asked me to join for the freedom, With closed eyes I just obeyed, I was confused about freedom. They took away my smile and happiness, for they would give me the freedom, I gave up my desire and stayed in fear, I was confused about freedom. They killed my people, I saw the blood, they said it is for the freedom, I stayed calm with heartbeat on high, I was confused about the freedom. They brought fear, tension, hatred among the people, they said it is for the freedom, I stayed alone in a closed room, I was confused about freedom. Now enough is enough, it is time for them to answer and put their guns down, They have kept me confused for long, no more dream of freedom with the sound of a gun I want to say, the God I believe never talk of violence but only of peace. I want to ask, Do they believe in god? If yes tell me the one, please Let me decide my freedom, yes I was happy when they were away, Peace, love, and smile are what I like and fear, killing, and bloodshed is their way. I want to say, Peace, friendship, smile, and love is what freedom is all about, Violence has no place, let me stay freely, that is what freedom is all about"

Real freedom transcends above boundaries, borders, barriers, barricades, controls and bridles. Freedom is a concept that enlightens and encourages one and all. Freedom is all about the ability to absorb the manifold aspects of life without fear and favour and also without any bias or discrimination. Dear Smruti Ranjaniji,

Your poem titled"A Look At Life-21" is a great exposition regarding the manifold interpretations of what it is meant to be independent. A LOOK AT LIFE-21
BY- SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY

Independence is a state of mind
A way of life
To be internalised and nourished
To make one independent
Of pride and prejudice
Hatred and jealousy
Violence and fanaticism
And all those negative emotions
That makes one badly respond
To whims and irrationality

It is beautifully reflected
In what you think
In what you do
How you approach life
And look at others
With whom you interact
With whom you do not

It is an atmosphere
That offers you the best
To be your own sell
An opportunity to flower and flourish
And make your dream a reality

It is not a licence
To do anything
You feel like
Is always subject to decency and morality
And others right to enjoy
The same with all dignity

Human beings are born to be free. Freedom is a perception to every single person. It is a concept to every one. Freedom is ability, it is a feeling. Freedom may be physical, mental or social. We lead everyday life with some basic question in our mind. At least once these questions have crossed every person's life i.e “Who we are?”, “What are we made of?”, “Are we really Free?”. Perhaps thousands of years have passed we are still searching for the answer.

Who are we?

Who we ar

The more free we are, the more
we are to restrain ourselves and see
that our freedom does not infringe upon
the right of others to enjoy the same.

Freedom is an atmosphere that gives one the opportunity to become oneself,
freedom is a will, an ardent desire
to see others at par.

Freedom is the foundation upon which
the superstructure of democracy is built,
freedom is that basic right which gives
meaning and substance to all other rights,
fundamental to the development of man

Freedom is a right, the corresponding duty
of which is to create that environment
where each can live with equal dignity.

Freedom is a state of mind where
the spirit of tolerance and compromise imbibe, where there is no fear, hatred and jealousy, pride and prejudice, sectarian and parochial loyalties and it equips one to make a value free empirical analysis and
