The man knew how to swim, but the baby elephant, perhaps thinking that the man was in danger, stepped into the river and swam towards the human to protect him. The elephant, a child himself, was determined to safeguard the human. How kind! But what about the 'humans' by birth? We bulldoze their homes, confine them to cages, kill them for ivory, and ride them for parades and shows. That's how we treat a being that has seemingly infinite kindness, even for its oppressors.
