Aswathama was the son of Dronacharya, the revered teacher of archery to the Kauravas and Pandavas. He was born with a gem on his forehead that granted him protection from hunger, thirst, and fatigue. Aswathama trained rigorously under his father and became a formidable warrior, skilled in the use of divine weapons. During the Kurukshetra War, Aswathama fought fiercely on the Kaurava side, alongside his father and other great warriors. His rage and prowess in battle were unmatched, and he played a crucial role in several key confrontations. However, as the war neared its end, desperation set in among the Kauravas. Dronacharya was tricked into believing that his son Ashwatthama had been killed. Overcome with grief and rage, Dronacharya laid down his weapons and was killed by Dhrishtadyumna, the commander of the Pandava army.
