Captain Anuj Nayyar, MVC (August 28, 1975 – July 7, 1999) was an Indian Army officer of 17 Jat who was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra, India's second-highest gallantry award, for exemplary valour in combat during operations in the Kargil War in 1999 It is known that Captain Anuj fell in love with a Punjabi girl. Their love saga was two states love wrangle. During the Kargil war, Over a call with his fiancee, he implored her what if he does not come back to which she retorted," Chup Kar Jaa Tu samjha!!" ( keep your mouth shut!!). He was amongst those heroes whose nuptials were very obvious on their retrieval from the crusade. Before going further to gain a victory over another post, he asked his commanding officer to keep his engagement ring and return it to his fiancee if he doesn't come back. He said," Sir Pyaar ki amaant bohot bari hoti hai. Mein isse lekar nahi mar sakta". His commander told him that he has to come back and get married. To this Capt. Anuj replied," Sir I won't die, if I die then my fiancee would never forgive me". Unfortunately, his fiancee could never forgive him.
