(Caption) Reaction Piece: "Child Abuse" While reading about child abuse done by parents, I get struck by how a mother or a father can do such horrendous acts to their own children. If progenitors cannot keep their own babies safe, then how else can we even expect kindness from strangers? Why do they even allow themselves to have children when they cannot give these babes the safety and love required? It's true that psychology may explain the warped reasons of why people become monsters but it's really terrible to realize the massive scope of the evil that humans allow themselves to be. Also, the fact that terrifying maltreatment can happen for such lengthy periods, before perpetrators get properly apprehended, highlights how apathetic and self-involved we all can be. If only people can be more concerned for others, then ill-treatment may be eradicated or, perhaps, lessened. If the authorities and the ones sworn to protect children would do their jobs, effectively, then there won't be such stories of exploits teeming the news, as well.
