लघुता ते प्रभुता मिले, प्रभुता ते प्रभु दूरी। चींटी लै सक्कर चली, हाथी के सिर धूरी।। --- कबीरदास भावार्थ - कबीरदास जी इस दोहे के माध्यम से कह रहे हैं कि यदि हमें सम्मान चाहिए तो हमें विनम्र (छोटा) बनना चाहिए क्योंकि विनम्रता ही हमें सम्मान देती है। प्रभुता (अंहकार) के भाव से मनुष्य परमात्मा से दूर हो जाता है। यही वजह है कि चींटी छोटी होकर भी शक्कर प्राप्त कर लेती है जबकि हाथी अपने बलशाली और विशालकाय शरीर होने के बावजूद अपने सूंड से शक्कर की बजाय धूल ही उठा पाती है। अतः मनुष्य को सदैव विनम्र रहना चाहिए। Abstract - Kabir Das ji is saying here through this couplet that if you want respect, you should be humble (small) because only humility gives respect. It is only due to the feeling of arrogance (ego) that a person gets away from the God. This is the reason why ant gets sugar even after being small whereas the elephant, despite its strong and huge body, is able to lift dust instead of sugar with its trunk.
