Manali Morning
(Caption) Amidst my thoughts of already living my life to the fullest, today my eyes opened to see the mesmerising view of snow covered mountains through the glass window in front of my bed in a remote cottage of Prini, a small village in Manali, Himachal Pradesh. One should not lose their senses in excitement. At an elevation of 6730 ft, for some reason I preferred to not to believe my weather app while it was yelling at my face through my 3 year old mobile phone that its chilling outside with a temperature of -6 degrees centigrade. Unable to resist myself enough to get prepared for the chilly morning, I immediately took my blanket off and jumped off the bed to land onto the wooden floor of the room designed in a beautiful criss-cross pattern. Just when I realised my home in Delhi is approximately 550 kms away, it was too late for me to put on my slippers and more importantly a blanket. While I was less of walking and more of shivering, eventually my hands reached the door to the balcony. As soon as I stepped outside, I think my skin stopped responding to the cold breeze. In a blink of an eye, I started feeling warmer inside. Probably this was because of the essence that these mountains contain in themselves. A 3 seconds long breath gave me like 15 sensations. The air around this range of “The Himalayas” has a very different smell. Compared to my hometown, I realised breathing wasn’t as difficult as I used to think. I could feel the cool fresh air with negligible pollutants entering my nostrils making their way to my lungs. I felt like holding it there forever but nature didn’t seem to be quite friendly with my crazy wishes. My half smoked blunt from last night with a glass of orange juice oozed through my throat as I admired the landscape. Is there anything else that can add up to the beauty of the morning? While I was mountain gazing, several thoughts crossing through my mind began to come to a halt. It is the power of the nature that can bring you down at peace from never ending run for life. For the day I am planning a walk in the woods around Hidimba Temple followed by an evening spent well at the Mall road.
