That was the time when the Bombay Bubonic Plague killed thousands in present-day Mumbai. And just like today, doctors and health workers stood in the frontlines and risked their lives to save others.🙏

One such person was Dr. Acacio Gabriel Viegas. His dispensary was located in a poor neighborhood of narrow and overcrowded streets, with filth accumulating in the sewers. After seeing patients showing some similar symptoms, and reports of 50-60 deaths, he was convinced that he had detected cases of Bombay Bubonic Plague.
