MY MOTHER-11 You are in the unknown You were in t

MY MOTHER-11

You are in the unknown
You were in the unknown
For a few years, days, months
Hours, minutes and seconds
You were with me
I mistook you to be exclusively mine
And thought the relationship to be permanent
Irrespective of time and space
Tell me my maa!
If the bonding is only for a while
Why this relationship, so much love
Affection and craving for something
So temporary?
Is it to live in tears for the rest of life?

Never thought of losing you one day
It was too poignant to be accepted
You suffered but always came through
This time I was also expecting
You to survive the time
No miracle happened
Prayers went in vain and you moved
Beyond my horizon.

I do know death is inevitable
One day sooner or later one has to die
Nothing here is permanent except change
One has to live with changes
May be acceptable may not be
Death can be delayed
But it can not be defeated
Still, I never thought of death
Saw people dying every moment
Never thought for you and me
There would be any death
I lived beyond me and my needs
As if I and you are permanent
If I would have realised this
I could have spent all my time with you
Which you needed more
Then the treatments and facilities, I provided.

My mother!
If ever you come as a woman
Never give birth to a son
Hardly a man understands a woman
Her love, dedication and concern
Very few have gone close to a mother' heart
The perennial stream of love,
The poetry of dedication
To understand what she is.
A mother is always a mother
Beyond the comprehension of a son.
The depth and intensity of her love
None has ever fathomed
Except for another woman, a mother.

My mother!
If you come as a mother
Make me your daughter
So that I can feel the depth of your love
Pangs of your sorrow
Womanhood in all its form and texture.
