When Dad left for Kargil
He had married just one month earlier.
Don't go, family whispered, holding him tight,
But duty called him to the mountain's fierce fight. 🏔️

He wore his uniform, so strong and so brave, 💪
Showing no fear, no wavering gaze.
Mom stood beside him, her smile firm and wide,
Yet her heart ached as he stepped outside. 💔

Days turned to weeks, and weeks into months,
Each moment she listened for a knock on the door. 🚪
Would it be Dad, returning at last? 👀
Or news that would shatter our hearts so fast? 💔

Mom stayed strong, her strength was pride, 🛡️
In a family of purpose, where love can't hide.
Neighbors and friends, without blood ties,
Became our own, with shared fears and sighs. 😔

All dreamed of the day he'd return with a smile,
His stories of bravery stretching a mile. 📜
The artillery’s roar, the might of their stand,
Defending our nation, protecting our land. 🇮🇳

Dad’s unit, 108 Engineer Regiment, 🎖️
They stood by their motto, ek sau aath Shatrunash
(108, destroyer of enemies ) 🎯
In history’s pages, engraved with their fame.

One day the door opened, and there he stood, 🚪
A mix of joy and relief in our neighborhood. 🎉
He scooped mom up, her tears soaking his chest, 😭
In his embrace, she found her rest.

For all the fears, the waiting and pain, 😰
The love of a father is what I gained.
Though war took him far, brought him near death’s door, ⚔️
He returned alive, with sena medal on his chest.

To all the Kargil fighters, brave and true, 🦸
from the whole heart, we salute you.
