ONE IN A MILLION - A SHORT STORY

I literally pulled my three year old daughter Kanika from the clutches of that multi speciality hospital. I could hear the Doctors shouting behind me,
'Ms. Sarita, you are not supposed to do like this'.

But I couldn't spend a minute more in that hell of a place. Had my husband been alive, he would have slapped the doctor before leaving. I just held her tight on my hip and ran towards the taxi stand before anyone could reach us.

As I was new to this city, I had no clue where to go. So I requested the pious looking middle aged driver whether he could help me. He looked at me intently and seeing my plight, and genuineness, he agreed. He said 'One of my friend's old parents are running a paying guest accommodation. They might have a temporary accommodation. I could take you there if you like". I agreed as I had no other options. My concern was more about my daughter. She needs to be taken care. Being in a Paying guest accommodation run by old people, it is ideal for me, I thought.
