The fear had never left her since that dreaded incident,
That dingy clinic in an old building, with the sharp smell of the disinfectant.
It was just a regular check up, 
But this visit was to decide the fate of the  life that grew inside her.
She saw her husband pay the doctor a bundle of 100 rupee notes, 
That she accepted with a big grin.
Rs 2000....
That was the price,  they fixed for destroying her unborn baby girl. 
She kept looking, as the doctor stood preparing for the termination of pregnancy.
She touched her belly and her teary eyes glanced at the wall, 
On the wall was a picture of Maa Durga...
