Never before has the opinion been empowered As the times we live in today Tweet your thing in 140 Or put up dreamy Instagram captions Or perhaps maybe, just maybe create a poem out of your opinion Camouflage it with complex hyperbole Just so that no one gets offended, you know Whilst we live in a world with supposed freedom of speech Voicing your opinion can now cost you jail terms and a hefty bail Not to forget, the countless counter arguments and death treats that tag along All at the pretext ot your opinion not aligning with mine Where is the notion that one could agree to disagree? And not be butthurt at every opinion that could go against you Oh but then we like calling each other sarcastic names Trolling and victimising We are 1.2 billion brains Some functioning, some not so much Demographics say that we ought to differ Our opinions should and must differ Online discourse today has never been so taxing A slight deviation from the popular opinion and one shall be vindicated Vindicated to a barrage of hate Disgusting grammar and spelling mistakes notwithstanding Perhaps a more civilized discourse would have made sense But then, one uping the other party has always been the trend Also, mother sister abuses that come along with it Maybe, a civil discussion online is what we need But is that far fetched? So far fetched that one could call it utopian?
