Only people who live in Assam knows the real plight of people here and I am one of them. I have been living in Assam from 3 yrs. It's a beautiful place with greenery all around but every year people have to face this calamity but nothing had been done to make their life better. Neither the news is telecasted widely on TVs or covered in Newspapers. Believe me , people in Assam(infact the whole North East) are very helpful and a woman /girl is safest here. I urge government to take necessary actions so that every year damage with flood can be minimised. Also I would request people to visit Assam and North East once in their life ,you will be mesmerized by the beauty of the place. Awesome Assam, stay strong !! Welcome to the day 18 of #YoLeWriMo or the YourQuote Letter Writing Month i.e. July. The mainstream media might not have informed you but Assam right now is facing one of the worst floods in its recent history. Brahmaputra, the mighty river, has inundated 27 districts and taken over 104 lives and affected more than 4 million people. North-East India's history and current affairs have been consistently amiss from the national narrative and until we as writers start talking about it, the world will not pay heed. Google and read about Assam. If you have friends from the North-East, speak with them to know more about their travails.
