-Major Mystique

All was white. The light seemed to burn his eyes, it was sharp like the sun. The edges weren’t rubbed and made smooth like the moonlight. Nishchay hated it. He was trapped in a cage of light. The dumpster was now a thing of the past. He shouldn’t have touched it.

“Diamonds don’t shine, they reflect and this one reflected you, Nishkara…”

The light faded and so did the singsong voice rippling out of existence. The garbage was gone and so was the stench. Nishchay stood there dressed in the hand-me-downs. The grass under his feet was wavering like ripples. A neon glow spread around from his feet. Nishchay looked around at the strange place. The sky did not feel intangible here. Clouds were stamped in their like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. The silver glow made it look like snow which would melt and break down any moment.

Around him was shimmering vegetation with the same bluish glint. He started to walk around looking at everything in wonder. There was no moon or stars yet it felt like he was strolling on a quiet moonlit night. The terrain soon started to bend unevenly. The earth shrunk and narrowed into a clifftop. A tree trunk emerged from the cliff’s tip and dangled to the other clifftop across. The bark was smoother than tiles and its girth wide like a bridge. It seemed as if it was meant to be like this… a bridge to the other side of this cliff.
