White "Urvashi & Pururavasa -2" However, after some years, Urvashi was cursed by a Brahmin and thrown out of the heavens and exile to earth. Secretly, Urvashi was thrilled. In no time, she reached Pururavasa's palace and presented herself. The inevitable happened. The king fell deeply in love with her. "Marry me, charming Urvashi!" he proposed. "Yes. This is what I want too. But there are three conditions you have to agree to." she gently posed. "What are they? the king asked anxiously. "Firstly, I have two lambs with me. They should never be harmed. Secondly, I eat only ghee; you must never force me to eat anything else. Lastly, I must never see you disrobed. If any of these conditions are broken, I shall have to leave you. So promise to adhere to them! Pururavasa promised to follow these conditions. Urvashi and Pururavasa were soon married. Years of contentment and happiness followed. "Where is Urvashi? demanded the heavens inmates from Indra. "No celestial program or function is complete without her ravishing company!" I will send the heavenly musicians to seek her out on earth, Indra declared. So, the Gandharvas or musicians were called and given instructions to find Urvashi and bring her back! The Gandharvas became invisible and soon traced Urvashi to Pururavasa's palace. They heard about the conditions too! "That makes our task easier, they sniggered.
