Personifying is just you projecting. Similes are just vague comparisons. Poetry is pointless. But remember sometimes the truth in you needs lies to communicate. Sometimes imagination can be a better friend than people. Sometimes what keeps you alive is more important than what nails you to your bed. Poetry is pointless like life. It's the meaning you give it that makes it have a point. So, make your poems as pointy as swords people use to kill each other. Point your poems at despair and shoot your demons. Poetry is the quietest and the most non-violent war you can wage on yourself and the world. You'll win even if it's just for 3 mins. And for this life, that's more than enough.
