The flowers are blooming in all their might, Everywhere there is a pretty sight, You know its spring, when you feel so good, You know its spring with colors of hope, Spring is the time to start afresh, It is the time when you feel refreshed, Spring is finally here,

Today, we will learn and write a Japanese poetry form called haiku. Haiku is a type of short form poetry originally from Japan. Traditional Japanese haiku consist of three phrases that contain a kireji, or "cutting word", 17 on in 5, 7, 5 syllables and a kigo, or seasonal reference. However, modern haiku vary widely on how closely they follow these traditional elements. #poemtime #haikutime

Here are a few examples by the Japanese Haiku master Basho. Count the syllables, 5-7-5 you'll find:

An old silent pond...
A frog jumps into the pond,
