*The dress of a prophet, saint or any pious man ,as a shroud for a dead body can not save it from the torment of Allah. Abdullah Bin Umar (R.A) reports,"When the father of Abdullah, Abdullah Bin Ubaiyye(a hypocrite died,his son came to the Messenger of Allah)and said,"Please give me your shirt.I shall shroud my father with it,and please lead his funeral prayer."So the Messenger of Allah gave his shirt and said:"Tell me when you have prepared the shroud."When he, the Messenger of Allah, intended to lead the prayer, for Abdullah Bin Ubaiyye,Umar(R.A) checked him from doing so and said,"Allah has forbidden you from offering funeral prayer for hypocrite."The Messenger of Allah said,"I have been given a choice of two,ie either to prayer for forgiveness or not.(So ,I wish to pray)"Thus,the Messenger of Allah offered the funeral prayer of Abdullah Bin Ubaiyye.At this Allah revealed the verse"And never Oh Muhammad!Pray(funeral) for any of them (hypocrite)who dies,nor stand at his graves.(9:84).After that the Messenger of Allah never prayed funeral prayer for any of the hypocrite.(Tirmidhi) #Shroud
