Reshma Kavate's day used to start with taking the family's buffaloes out to graze. But today, instead of chasing cattle, the 22-year-old runs marathons. In the last 2 years, Reshma has participated and won many runs, including cross-country marathons. This was made possible by the Mann Deshi Champions programme which has trained and empowered more than 7000 rural children, free of cost, across Maharashtra so far.

The man behind this, is Prabhat Sinha who grew up around nomadic tribes with his father being a farmer and his mother engaged in teaching the women vocational skills. When his mother got selected for a fellowship program in Yale University, Prabhat accompanied her to the United States. And that was when he became aware of sporting events and competitions.
