“Education is the mother of leadership”
is a famous saying. This was one the main reason, Emperor’s used to send their princes’ to ‘The Gurukul’.

The idea was that, despite their status as princes, they should learn how to live like an ordinary man in his own country. Staying away from home and comfort would establish a sense of hardness and toughness, allowing you to resist life's heat. The Guru (Male in particular) was in charge of these Gurukuls because he used to be an institute in himself.
The discipline was given more attention, as it was viewed as a critical component. The Guru was given the freedom to punish the princes in whatever way he saw fit. In our mythology literature, we have several stories of the Guru punishing people harshly. They were deprive of food for days, forcing them to beg for clothes, food, and other essentials. Which The Guru could have easily gotten from their ultra-wealthy parents, but that wouldn't have taught them what they needed to know. The parents' only request was for a tough, skilled, and educated ward. And the Guru was adamant about achieving his objective.

But would it have been possible if it had been led by a woman?
