FOMO

If I were a straight A recluse,
I would be FOMOing over fun and parties.

If I were a straight C party animal,
I would be FOMOing over marks and academics.

If I were a balanced straight B party goer,
I would be FOMOing over having a passion,
Passion to do anything really well,
Either academics or parties.

If I were that focussed passionate person,
I would be FOMOing over The Diverse Life,
FOMOing over experiences that the world has many,
FOMOing over things that I may not even like,
FOMOing sometimes just because others are FOMOing over it too.

So let us just believe her when she said,
"kuch na kuch toh chootega hi"

And Stop FOMOing and Start Living.

They told us,

Your time is like everyone else's,
24 hours in a day.
That there are infinite things to possess,
That those things pull you towards themselves,
The heavier (flashier) the thing, greater the pull.
But you can pull those things towards you too.
That the only way to have them is to travel straight,
Straight on the path to success,
Straight through the apple trees.

But now I know,

That my time is mine, different from everyone else's.
That neither do I pull things nor they do me.
But I still seek success,
In happiness, in love, in fulfilment.
But the distractions are heavier,
And my life warped around them.
I fall towards these but if I push harder,
I get past them slowly, painfully.
But people know nothing,
They label it easy, label it fast.
Only if they knew.
My trajectory, well it's not perfect, it is bent,
Not straight as everyone wanted it to be,
I may have not achieved much too,
May have missed out on many things.
But atleast now I am more confident and sound,
Atleast now I am closer to the truth,
Atleast now I can predict Mercury's orbit better.

AN UPWARD SPIRAL

Suspended in this sedentery segment of space time,
I see a seamless sacred seed of an idea,
Idea of setting the self separate.
Shrinking shredding shushing those old habits,
Carving out new.

I seek I search as I am set to sail over the new sea,
Slithering through the similar though not same,
Sequence of stoked seconds,
Trying to take the new tide, tall but tantalizing

Starting off as a seasoned sailor,
Soaked with sweat but the smile still sweet.
Under the blissful sun in the sky so slick
I have wondered and wandered,
Until I have reached the withering weather.

Now I sense myself scared thus static,
And come back to my standard stance.
Repeat my old habits, staying still,
Just like I repeated my 'S' alliterations,
After my Ts,
Then repeated S again,
After my Ws.
I taste a little new,
But come to repeat my old.
I can become saddened sickened at this speciality of mine,
Or I can say "yay yet I yacht foward in the English Alphabet."

EXTRAPOLATION

I saw just the upper third of her face,
Those eyes that skin those eyebrows,
Those wayward hair you can only guess as freedom,
That expression you can only guess as happiness,
That glow you can only guess as goodness,
That pink you can only guess as innocence,
That spotless forehead you can only guess as purity,
Purity of the heart the brain the soul
Those lustrous eyes you can only guess as depth,
Depth of the mind the thought the conscience
That root of the nose so soft you can only guess as merciful,
Merciful, thoughtful and all things virtuous
Yes, I just made a character sketch of you,
From the upper third of your face
Never knew you, never talked
My guesswork is accurate
My extrapolation is reliable
Extrapolation of not a line but a point
To either of the axes
Mathematically illogical
But hey, I am thinking wishfully about you!
And hey, I am going to realise this
Probably when its too late
I would lose the studpidity then
Stupidity of extrapolating again.

A Child Into An Adult

The way way back was just way simple
Black or white areas
No gray ones
Zero or one
No decimals
For or against
No circumstantial stance
Adults and children
Wisdom and foolishness
Knowledge and ignorance
Right and wrong
All in the same breath
With 'respectively' at the end
The breath set in stone
Now there is only gray
Gray to sort out into black and white
Now there are decimals
On each side of 0.5, infintely many
Now there are stances, there are situations
Now adults act like children
And children like adults
The breath has lost 'respectively'
And has just become the line of a mediocre poem
But I say let us take freedom
Freedom in the thought that nothing
Nothing is written in stone
And that we are what we are
And it is freakin okay #poetry #comingOfAge
