Biryani, a flavorful and aromatic rice dish, is a culinary delight loved by many. Here's a basic recipe to guide you on how to make biryani:

Ingredients:

2 cups basmati rice
1 kg meat (chicken, mutton, or beef), cut into pieces
2 medium-sized onions, thinly sliced
4 tomatoes, chopped
4-5 green chilies, slit
2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
1 cup plain yogurt
2 teaspoons biryani masala powder
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust according to spice preference)
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon garam masala powder
A handful of fresh mint leaves
A handful of fresh coriander leaves
4 cups water
Ghee or vegetable oil
Salt to taste
For the Biryani Layer:

Saffron strands soaked in 2 tablespoons of warm milk
Fried onions (from the sliced onions)
Ghee or vegetable oil
Instructions:

Wash the basmati rice thoroughly and soak it in water for about 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.
Heat ghee or oil in a large pot or deep pan. Add the sliced onions and fry until golden brown. Remove half of the fried onions and set them aside for garnishing.
In the same pot, add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies. Sauté for a minute until fragrant.
Add the meat pieces to the pot and cook until they are browned on all sides.
Add chopped tomatoes, biryani masala powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes until the tomatoes soften.
Add yogurt, mint leaves, and coriander leaves to the pot. Stir everything together.
Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pot. Gently mix the rice with the meat and spices.
Pour water into the pot, ensuring that the water level is about 1-2 inches above the rice.
Bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid, and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes. Avoid opening the lid during this time to ensure proper steaming.
After 15-20 minutes, turn off the heat and let the biryani rest for another 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
For the biryani layer, spread half of the rice evenly in a baking dish. Drizzle some saffron-infused milk and ghee/oil over the rice.
Layer the cooked meat and spices on top of the rice in the baking dish.
Add the remaining rice on top of the meat layer. Drizzle saffron-infused milk and ghee/oil over the rice.
Cover the baking dish with foil and bake it in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes.
Remove from the oven and let the biryani rest for a few minutes.
Garnish with the reserved fried onions and serve hot with raita or a side salad.
Note: Biryani recipes can vary based on regional and personal preferences. Feel free to adjust the spices and ingredients according to your taste.
