White A LOOK AT LIFE-147
BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY

Never worry for what will happen.
Never regret for what has happened.
You might have erred
Who has not, you, I, he or they
Is anyone an exception
Repent and rectify, but don't forget to smile
Live! life is too short, too precious
To be wasted on nothing
Never carry the burden of past,
The dreams and fancies of future
Instead of living in a noman's land
In the dead past and unseen future
Live in the present with your smile and tears
Do not be an alien to yourself
Live the moments as they come
Happiness and sorrow
They are all yours

If you so like, go down the memory lane
Visit the future, but always be in and with the Present with what you see and sense right now.
Past is memory, future is a dream
The present is your reality,
Something you have to enjoy and endure
You may like it, you may not,
But can not escape it
Better accept and live with it.

          IN LOVE

Without love
Can you live even for a minute?
It is love that motivates you to live and let live
You are always in love with yourself
With someone, something, an idea,
an institution, a set of values and many other
Love lets you live, enjoy and endure
Even in a dry desert with the sun overhead
In minus temperature
with the chill wind playing havoc
And ceaseless rain taking a heavy toll

Where there is love
How can there be hatred and jealousy?
A man in love can not hate anyone
How can he?
Love never allows
One to nurture negative feelings
Ego, hatred and jealousy
Pride, prejudice and vanity
The reason why
We are in an abyss is
We never identify with our real nature
Either we have forgotten that
We are love and in love with existence
Or we have never been in love
Our love is only a pretension
With jealousy, ego and hatred
Love can not coexist
They are parallel lines, never meet
If at all they meet, they meet at infinity.
Either you will love and live
Or hate and perish
The ball is in your court

White SOMETHING I LOOK AT-326
BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY

It happens.
Does not matter if you are in
the twenties or seventies,
it just happens
irrespective of your wish and choice

It knows not
who is on the other side,
maybe the moon or a star
in the distant sky.
It never takes into account the gap between you and the object of your love
It happens and you get drowned before you know where you are.

It spares none
It comes alike to the old and young, makes one blind to reality, takes him away to an unknown island
surrounded by water from all sides.

The more it casts its spell
the more you get drowned
and lose yourself in the infinite bliss that surrounds you.
You prefer to be in the prison, a beautiful prison out of which you never wish to come out

It may be a beautiful man or woman,
an idea, a flower, a passion
the spellbinding beauty of nature,
a promise to keep or a commitment to live for, maybe the pet at your home.
Love happens irrespective of your wish and desire, where and how you are and where and how your love is

White A LOOK AT LIFE-27
BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY

I am not just too old
To look forward to life
Its beauty and grandeur
I am not young enough either
To be in any one's dream
Or anyone to be in mine

Life was spent in vain
In weaving and fulfilling
Dreams of others
I realized it
But late
When half the life
Was in the ashtray

I know
How painful and agonizing
It is
To carry the burden
Of hopes and aspirations
Which are not yours
How foolish it is to expect
Your unrealised dreams realised
Through someone else
How difficult
It is to walk on the path of life
Losing and forgetting
One's identity,whims and fancies

Beyond a limit
Man is all alone
For he fancies the most
To live in his secluded world
So different from
His loved ones

I am not the one
To confine to a solitary asylum
Or to live in a fool's paradise
Brooding over the past
I know
The new sun,fresh and lively
Is about to rise on the horizon
And I am
For the first time
Not under any one's spell
With all my freedom and detachment
Let me cherish all that is true and beautiful
And look at life
Its splendor and elegance
Once more

White SOMETHING I LOOK AT-26
BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY

How far away i am
from me and my dreams
miles and miles away my childhood
those glorious days and fascinating nights
mother's lap and father's shadow
the scenic beauty of nature
and fulfilling life

Gone are the days
of carefree life and blissful living
gone is the world
of fairies and ghosts
no more i feel on my head father's hand
and mother's touch
no more i hear that
raining sound in the distant forest
no more i look forward to life and its beauty
no more i play with paper boats
And sail across my dream world
To feel life, its warmth and colours

I long for those moments
the chill winter night
the symphony of ceaseless rain
the never ending stories of grandpa
the flavour of moist soil
sweet aroma of wild flowers
and long bare footed walk to the school
under the scorching heat of sun
and shower

I cherish
that carefree and contented life
the limitless joy i had
when i shared whatever little i had
with each and everyone
die for those moments
which we lived for each other
showering our love and affection
expecting nothing in return

With lantern light
no means of communication
and very little to spend
life was difficult
yet so captivating
and full of colours

With all the comforts
and luxuries
how futile and meaningless
today's life is
with no time for self
love and reciprocation
i feel alien to myself and look
for that real i, the innocent child
lost somewhere in
childhood and its innocence

You called me first but I came late,
A hesitant reaction, cold as fate.
The summer sun and winter rain,
Made the flower wilt in pain.

But on a spring morning, bright and clear,
Golden petals of love drew near.
Under the sky, so vast and blue,
I fell for the flower—pure and true.

My love for it knew no worldly claim,
No fleeting passion, no selfish aim.
I longed to see it dance with ease,
In the cool breeze of eternal peace.

But the flower turned its gaze away,
Chasing my shadow at the break of day.
Why seek the lifeless, void of grace,
When vibrant beauty stood in place?

And then it vanished from my view,
Leaving me caught, unsure what’s true.
In Trishanku's heaven, I linger and yearn,
Hoping the flower, one day, will return.

I hope one day you’ll open the gate,
And let my vision seal its fate.
I trust in my love, pure and true,
To see you once more before life bids adieu.

Let me open my heart before I die
Let me dance in joy
before someone snatches my smile away.
Let me live for myself, for my love,
my most valued and cherished moment
before death puts an end.

Give me a minute
Give me that moment
Since long I have been waiting for it
I will express myself,
my love for you
treasured in my heart since we first met.

It is time
I will express my love for you
It is now or never
If I do not do it
I can never do it
It will be injustice,
sheer injustice to love and life.

Don't look at me
I can't look into your eyes
Be with me, I have mustered a little strength
Let me say what I mean to say
You may not reciprocate
But please give an ear to it,
listen to me, my heart and mind,
the music of my life.
Have been waiting for this since eternities

Come a little near
Smile a bit
I will express myself,
a world will open before us
and I will have a glimpse of life,
its grace and beauty
before I close my eyes

White SOMETHING I LOOK AT-323
BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY

For the first time
I am in love.
Know not what to do,
neither the wind is in my
favour nor the sun

The fading light of the dying
sun mocks at me,
silently whispers in my ear
'Man, you are as old as me,
for you, it is all over
don't you listen
the dark night knocking on your door'

I ask myself
does love have an age,
does it grow old with time or it is ageless?
Does love have anything to do with a tottering body and dwindling mind?

What about someone
for whom love is a feeling
beyond body and mind,
whose love is only for the other one, for the genuine well-being of his sweetheart

Is love more fulfilling in the physical and mental dimensions or in the realm of consciousness where one completely becomes another's
unconsciously merging his identity by completely identifying with his loved one,
living her moments, cheers and tears as his own

Love as a feeling
transcends the barrier of time
The lover and beloved may remain no more but their love will be, forever inspiring generation after generation

DAYS AFTER-10

Life is all about
Having the motivation to live
Each and every bit of it
Life is all about
Living till the last minute
With enthusiasm and a smile on lips

To motivate
You need to have a goal
Life is all about fixing goals
And sprinting towards it
With all your heart and mind

Life is all about chasing one's love
Like a mad over
Find your love
Rush towards it
Uncover the lover
You have forgotten long since

Fall in love with life
Fall in love with yourself
An object, an idea, an individual
Plants, pets and poetry
Anything under the sun
Be with your love
That will keep your interests alive

Life is all about rediscovering oneself
Fixing one's priorities and reorienting oneself
Updating as per changing needs of time
Enjoying and relishing
The juice at each station of it
Childhood, youth and old age
Never matters
Where you are
Till you are in the game
Loving and living it with passion and dignity
