Mention of Suicide. Today I came across a number of insensitive comments that resorted to victim blaming. Some calling suicide ‘stupid’, ‘cowardly’ and a number of awful things that simply prove the fact that there is still a general feeling of apathy when it comes to mental health. While we speak of mental health and its importance, I urge you to reach out to the people around you and talk to them. It takes absolutely nothing to be kind and compassionate. You can never really know what a person is going through. If you are going through a difficult time, reach out to a loved one or friend and know that you aren’t alone. We don’t speak of mental health as often and as openly as we should, and I truly hope that changes. There are far too many people that are silently battling mental illnesses because they have never found a safe space to voice out their feelings to. That needs to change.
