White A LOOK AT LIFE-16 BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY The man on the street I look at him He looks at me The eyes meet the eyes But never the heart l barely think about the man, seemingly insignificant and completely lost in his own world which is so different from that of ours He seems to have discarded the values of the larger society, so dear to each and every one and has his own likes and dislikes that has nothing to do with the whims and caprices of modern man I am in a cell. What I learned over the years and the way I was groomed prohibits me to treat the man as a man, the values I inculcated and Lovingly nurtured come in the way When I retire from my ignoble strife with very little life in me, my tired eyes again meet his, lively and fresh. White ଦ୍ଵନ୍ଦ୍ବ ଉଭୟ ଵାହାରେ ଆଉ ଭିତରେ ଵି ଭିତରେ ମନ ଵିଵେକ ଆଉ ମୂଲ୍ଯଵୋଧ ଆଉ ଜୀବନଧାରାର ସଂଘର୍ଷ ।। ଵାହାରେ ସଵୁରି ସହ ମୋର ସଂଘର୍ଷ ନିରବଧି ଏ ସଂଘର୍ଷର ଧାରା, ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କ ବିଳାସ, ଆବଶ୍ଯକତା କ୍ଷମତା, ଅସ୍ମିତା ଓ ପରିଚୟର ଅସରନ୍ତି ଦ୍ଵନ୍ଦ୍ଵ ।। SOMETHING I LOOK AT-46 BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY Conflict, both inside and outside, inside it is a struggle between mind and conscience, between the values i inculcated and the goals I cherish. Outside, it is a war of me against all, between what i relish and what i accomplish. It is a continuous struggle of each against all for the avenues of life, comfort, luxury, pelf, power, recognition and all that makes modern life a beauty. With the tide of desires running high and the wind of instincts and emotions propelling it the real I seem to be sadly missing in the horizon. To reconcile the irreconcilable conflicts in life one has to peep inside to have a glimpse of his real nature which is but divinity expanded and to understand the futility of rat race for accomplishment appreciation and recognition which gives nothing but more desires, more conflicts and pain.
