White A LOOK AT LIFE-116 BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY THE RETURN JOURNEY My Father! I do not know How and why I came here? Probably it is thy will for which I am here But instead of watching your drama Like a silent none possessive, Unassuming spectator Became an actor, a part of the drama Considered myself to be the hero Around whom the world revolved I became a playwright Did my own screenplay Composed my own lyrics Sung my own songs Thought the world around to be exclusively mine. My Lord! I acted as if I was the doer I became the centre You left my hands, silently disappeared I became the prisoner of my own actions No way I could escape from My karmic debts and deposits I created that bondage for me Enjoyed and endured the fruits of my actions. My Father! Bondage I need no more In the journey of life This is my return journey Let the 'I' in me My body, mind, possessions Actions and fruits of actions be At your lotus feet Let my eyes see you only My ears listen to your divine melody My senses perceive nothing but you only With my tired limbs and mind Have to go miles till I reach Help me, my father! I can carry myself To the destination I know nothing, actions, fruits of actions Debts and deposits Knowledge and devotion Dualism, non-dualism and qualified non-dualism I know one thing only I have nothing\none with me Except You, my father I know you can not leave me in the mid-sea You will bring me safely ashore If my love is genuine Ensure my surrender, make it complete Ensure! my mind never moves away even for a fraction of a second from your lotus feet Be with me my father Heaven or hell, do not matter I know my father is with me forever Here and hereafter. White SOMETHING I LOOK AT-169 BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY I fall asleep and get up only to find me in abysmal slumber once more. I feel fed up with myself and things happening around only to find me deeply engrossed little later I lived and died enjoyed and endured, spent the whole of my time moving forward and going back without accelerating and understanding life, its relationship with cause, space and time. I spent my whole life without understanding its purpose., without realising that life is a conundrum. Life has been one step forward one step backward and I am where I was long back Everything around changed but I remained the same enjoying and enduring life without understanding its purpose and meaning. At times, I feel... a dry desert is pervading within me, at times , I see an ever green forest is growing within me... I feel confused .... try to search the fountain of bliss deep inside Life has been a meaningless endeavour in pursuit of nothing I returned back where I started long long a go accomplishing nothing in the process only to see the entire life consumed in a movement forward and backward from high to low, from darkness to light and light to darkness.... this movement is nothing but a riddle. White SOMETHING I LOOK AT-159 BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY LET ME SILENTLY WITHER AWAY Before someone tells me it is time and I must quit, let me leave the centre stage making space for someone more fit. Before they stop talking, let me talk to myself, listen to my voice, make me my best friend, Let me learn to keep quiet. With no takers to what I say, let me value the beauty of silence and remain within myself Let me silently wither away I know am not of any use to anyone, don't have enough strength and will to carry on my shoulder someone else. Let me accept the reality Neither I can help nor accept, nor can I teach and advise or listen to someone's idiocy and high handedness Before the world leaves me where I have been, let me withdraw from all that I loved, endured and fancied more than my love and life. Let me not forget I am still alive and someone needs me. We are to live the last part of life with ease and dignity Let me be with my love who carried my smile and tears, love and frustration over the years without caring for her own She can not see me reduced to a nonentity, a man without dreams. Let me live till I am alive with passion and dignity If not for me For someone who loves me, for whom I am larger than life and relationship. Gratitude to mam Nadine Jessel, Steven Dawson, Heart and Soul Poetry, Admins and Board Of Judges for the honour "IN THE SPOTLIGHT" HEART & SOUL POETRY GROUP Featuring and honouring these poets for recognition: ***Smruti Ranjan Mohanty*** A LOOK AT LIFE-30 BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY Relationship Such a fabulous word in common man's vocabulary Such a beauty that made the world Look so elegant and fascinating And life nothing short of a paradise on earth. It binds one with the other In a thread of Love, jealousy, hatred and many more And keep one deeply engrossed In his pursuit of a better life here And hereafter Relationship is relative Even the sweetest of relationships Comes under stress For by its very nature Relationship is unstable and The capacity of the thread To bear is never unlimited It breaks when We expect too much out of it It breaks when Naked self-interest parade Up and down in the guise of virtue It breaks For we evaluate another And interpret a situation As per our own interest Which is the only permanent thing In this fragile world It breaks For we analyze situations not As they are For we evaluate one not As he is But as we see and define them As per our interests Naked and permanent The priorities of life Keep on changing So the relationships We cultivated and endured The sweetest of relationships We shared over the years Becomes an unnecessary liability And that is life We are to accept it copyright@smruti ranjan 19.4.2016 ©Smruti Ranjan Mohanty #bachpan Gratitude to mam Nadine Jessel, Steven Dawson, Heart and Soul Poetry, Admins and Board Of Judges for the honour "IN THE SPOTLIGH
