But the snow came, blanketing the streets in silence, and he never returned. The letter ended with, “I love you, always,” a line that felt like a promise he had fought to keep. Anna folded the paper carefully, her heart heavy with the weight of unfinished dreams. She stared out at the falling snow, wishing it could carry her whispers to him.
