Yesterday after lunch while taking a walk in the office parking area, I noticed something very unusual. A session was going on for around 100 security guards employed at the three buildings where our company have offices. It was in the same tone we have meetings with our leads discussing ways to increase productivity, satisfaction and issues. The instructor was talking in Hindi and telling security guards about how they can rescue stress at their work. He told them how can guards use a handkerchief and cool it with water and apply it on the eyes to reduce the exertion. How guards can do specific body movements to prevent pain that follows continues sitting fours. The instructor further shared progress on the problems guards face. This may be common, but I saw it for the first time and I realized one thing. No matter what we engineers do above the floor, no matter what these guys do in the basement and the corners of buildings as a guard, all jobs have dignity, a set of values, rules and a requirement of skill sets. No job is small. Be it making ppt on your computer or sitting at a place for hours just to make sure others have a pleasant experience.
