White I Found Heavenly Peace

In childhood's embrace, where friendships entwined,
Two boys named Alex and Ben, bonds strong and kind.
But at fifteen's turning, a spark ignited strife,
Breaking their bond asunder, setting them adrift.

Time marched relentless, years of silence passed,
Twenty-eight winters flown, the chasm still cast.
Then came a diagnosis, life's cruel decree,
Brain's insidious toll, Ben's mortality near.

With death's embrace beckoning, a longing arose,
To mend the shattered ties, to seek peace's repose.
One final ride he embarked, his spirit sore,
To find his friend Alex, one last chance for evermore.

In a heart racked with guilt, Alex too awaited,
Frozen in fear, unable to instigate.
But as Ben arrived, his anguish plain to see,
Alex's remorse melted, setting his heart free.

'Forgive me, friend,' Ben uttered, tears on his cheek,
'For the pain I've caused, the words I couldn't speak.'
Alex's voice trembled, 'I forgive, I do,
My heart's been burdened, now liberated too.'

'I found my heavenly peace,' Ben whispered low,
'With your forgiveness, I can journey to the unknown.'
His breath grew faint, his eyes glazed and dim,
As life's flame flickered, his spirit soared within.

Alex watched in silence, bittersweet despair,
Cherishing their bond, beyond compare.
Tears flowed freely, a testament to their love,
A friendship reunited in realms above.
