THE COUNTDOWN-25

What matters
Is not the chair
How much fascinating
And elegant it might have been
What matter
Are not power, money, work, and status
How much intoxicating these may be
Certainly not
Your identity and position in the hierarchy
That define you and your life
These are all transitory
Only for some time
What one misses is the bond
He has with many
Meticulously crafted and carefully groomed
And nurtured in the nursery of love
And mutual reciprocation over a lifetime

One never knows
What one loses
Before time snatches away his smile
And let him know
What precisely leaves one when he quits
The centre stage

It is not the external glitter
But one's heart and soul
Which one leaves in the place
Where he has been for years.
Nothing hunts one more
Except for the memory of the people
With whom he lived
The best part of his life
It hurts and hurts badly
When one does not find anyone near.
The old-known faces
To share his feelings and emotions

When one is sad at home
He always finds someone here
Who finds time to cheer him up?
A taker of what he feels and says
Someone who means
What one intends to convey

When one moves away
He moves away from their loving pair of eyes
That jealously guarded him over the years
Their care and concern
Appreciation and adoration
And the atmosphere
Which he will sadly miss
In the rest of his years
