Since it's the time of the year to worship Maa Dur

Since it's the time of the year to worship Maa Durga, don't forget to pray for a son to her.

(Full piece in the caption) Hey, I'm not being sexist here. Isn't “Rupam dehi, Jayam dehi, Yasho dehi … Putran dehi” a part of the Argala stotram you chant while worshipping Maa Durga?

Although Maa Durga comes with two sons and two daughters- you see, equality, you still have been able to create a mantra that represents your sexist and selfish self; that has nothing but greed for glamour, win, fame and an unending list of things along with a son.

Last year (2019), Telegraph started a campaign to change the term ‘putrān’ and replace it with ‘santānān’- a gender-neutral term. Now for a moment, even if we overlook the misogyny, patriarchy, Brahminism-based irrational attacks against this campaign and everyone supporting the factor in general, many ‘pandits’ and ‘researchers’ came with their ‘logics’ to support the existing mantra.

Well, I’m glad that ‘sons are the future of our generation, this planet and the galaxy’ wasn’t their logic. They rather argued that, the term ‘putran dehi’ is not wrong because according to ekaśeṣa principle of the Sanskrit language, the masculine gender stands for both the genders- male and female.
