नया शहर, नए लोग,
अनजानों के बीच कुछ जाने पहचाने से दोस्त,
पर हर लम्हा मैं तरसु बस तेरी एक झलक पाने को।
बिना साथ रहते हुए भी जाने कैसे तू हरदम मेरे पास हैं,
महसूस करता हूं तुझे हर घड़ी हर पल,
तू किसी जादूगर से कम तो नहीं हैं।।

तेरे हंसते हुए चेहरे को हैं मैंने अपने आखों में बसाया,
तू जहां होगी, जैसी होगी, खुश होगी, कहकर दिल को हैं मैने अपने बहलाया,
जा अब नहीं सोचता तेरे बारे में, खुद को ये हरबार हैं मैंने समझाया,
पर नदी को समंदर में जा मिलने से भला कौन हैं जो आज तक रोक पाया।।

तुझसे दूर होने के बाद से जिंदगी जैसे एक बुरा सपना सा हैं,
तू साथ हो तो ये सारा जग लगे मुझे अपना सा हैं।
तेरे नाम ही कर दी हैं पूरी अपनी ये ज़िंदगी,
तेरा हाथ मेरे हाथों में हो तो जिंदगी ये गुलज़ार हैं।।

चुपचाप सी बैठी रहने वाली शांत सी वो,
कक्षा में भी जो बस सवाल पूछे जाने पर देती जवाब,
सोचा नहीं था तब की बात भी होगी कभी उनसे,
खास दोस्त बन जाना तो थी बहुत दूर की बात।

परीक्षा के वक्त हुई उनसे पहली मुलाकात,
"बात करें या नहीं" - इस असमंजस में गुज़रे कुछ दिन और।
परीक्षा के आखिर के दिनों से शुरू हुआ उनसे बोल - चाल,
धीरे - धीरे बयां करने लगा उनको दिल का हर हाल।

कक्षा के पहले दिन से आखरी दिन तक बात न करने से,
दोनों का यूं करीब आना था एक प्यारा सा खुशनुमा इत्तेफ़ाक,
जैसे डूबता हुआ सूरज मिल जाता है समंदर में शाम के होने पर।।

उम्मीद हैं की बनी रहे यूंही हमेशा उनका ये साथ,

15th August, 2021.....
As I sit infront of the Television Screen,
Watching horrific scenes of a nation being taken over,
People getting killed, slaughtered and ambushed,
Running for survival in their own territory,
The sense of being Independent and free,
Has a whole new value to me.

As I witness an army accepting defeat to foreign hostilities,
Leaving behind an entire population in the midst of atrocities.
As they fight every moment all by themselves, to get out of this monstrosity,
The sense of being protected by the Indian Army,
Has a whole new value to me.

With a heavy heart, as I turn off the TV and move out,
I witness the tricolour hoisted and flying high.
I breathe a sigh of relief accompanied by a sense of pride.

Holding on to something,
Without realising it is constantly trying to get away from you.
Your body aches as you try to clutch onto it,
With every ounce of energy, you're left with.

You hope that you'll be understood,
That it will turn towards you and never leave,
Only to later realise that it was never yours.
That it always wanted to get away from you.

Shattered, you try to pick those broken pieces of yourself,

Corpses everywhere, wails of near and dear ones every moment,
Fear of getting infected looming over the head,
Yet the world moves at its own pace,
To earn their daily bread.

From not finding hospital beds to not finding place in crematoriums.
Now even animals getting infected,
The nature has not been at its best,
Tremors from earthquakes being felt.
Forest fires turning the bushes into ashes
Yet the world moves at its own pace,
To earn their daily bread.

With hopes of returning back to the usual,
Everyone adjusting themselves to the new normal,
Maintaining social distancing, sanitizing and masking up,
The world hasn't yet given up,
Marching against Covid at its own pace,
Towards better times ahead.

Dejected and despaired as the sky filled with dark clouds,
There I sat at the window waiting for a heavy downpour amidst all the thunders and bolts,
Thinking about what worse could happen to my already messed up life.
I ended up landing in the infinity loop of cynic thoughts where they keep coming one after another,
Till a point where I begin doubting and questioning my existence.

My brain then took me down the memory lane to the darkest hour of my life,
To make sure that things turn from bad to worse.
And then I could clearly visualise all those things unfold before my eyes which I never wanted to see.
It was a bus full of passengers and I was groped and embarrassed by one of the strangers.
Not knowing how to react to the situation,
Perplexed, gasping for breath, I got down and walked home.
The day was same as this one,
One filled with dark clouds ready to downpour at any moment.
And I sat at the window trying hard to perceive what had actually happened.

Everytime I try to speak about it to someone,
They laugh at me as if MEN should not create a issue of this,
Now I laugh, I smile, I cry but dead from the inside.
Longing to see the seven colours of the rainbow in the clear sky.

Ending a long week full of drought,
A weekend is like a oasis in the desert.
Weekends are all about meeting friends,
Packing up bags and going for the long awaited vacation to the nearest hillstation,
Or laying down on the couch with a pack of popcorn watching your favourite soccer club scoring goals one after the other.
Weekends, the period of the week for reminiscing all the beautiful memories of the yesteryears over a cup of tea or coffee with those crazy friends and ending up giggling all over again.
Weekends are all about giving more time to all those hobbies which always had to take a backseat because of the already hectic and mundane schedule.

Weekends, that period of the week where I can be more of me and less of what the world wants me to be,
Weekends are where I can be carefree.
Weekends are about giving time to family,
And run away from the world of misery.
Right from a child who just walked into school to an adult working to earn a livelihood,
The best part of the week is possibly the weekends.
The only thing that nobody wants an end to is an "Weekend".

वही समाज जो बना फिरता हैं साधु तुम्हारे सामने,
