White Harishchandra -2 He has died of a snake bite! She screamed. Weeping, she carried her son's body to the cremation grounds to be burnt. There she met her husband. Although shaken by the entire prospect of burning his own son, Harishchandra still did not forget the rules of his job. "You have to pay me for the task, he said. Sobbing, his wife said, I have no money. I have nothing to give you. With tears streaming down his face, Harishchandra insisted, "I cannot cheat my master who expects me to take something for this task. Helplessly, his wife tore one part of her threadbare sari and offered it to him. Agreeing to accept this as payment for a cremation, Harishchandra began to prepare for the funeral. A blinding light stopped him. The light was none other than Lord Vishnu. Vishwamitra and Indra appeared too. "King Harishchandra, you are truly what you are, they declared. Lord Vishnu bent and brought Harishchandra's son back to life. Overjoyed at this, the king and the queen hugged their son. "We return your kingdom too! Indra and Vishwamitra magnanimously announced.
