You talk of worldly things And I smile in pain. I cannot focus I cannot comprehend What you talk about. No, it isn't love. I'm on my period. My belly is eating itself from the inside, Stabbing all the while I continue to do my work And listen to your rants All with a smile. Ouch! This is written in my existence. Some pipe is leaking, It seems. I'm punctured. What a bloody bloody mess! Just because I'm a woman? Oh man, I envy the simplicity you were gifted with.
