Thanks and gratitude to Prof Cijo Joseph Chennelil, eminent poet and literary critic for writing a brilliant critical appreciation on my poem 'SOMETHING I LOOK AT-2'.Thank you very much, sir, for your wonderful words of appreciation

Smurti Ranjanji,

Your poem titled"Something I Look At-2" is a poem of lost chances to pursue goodness and the options that are to be explored further in this world of opportunities. The sorry for mindset is quite obvious here, those moments of joy and happiness are bygone things altogether. To secure one's position, mistakes are committed, the reputations of many are destroyed and false accusations are levelled against the pious souls but now the time to be regrettable for all those dubious acts should be opted and taken to its eventual conclusion. The backstabbing and other acts of despicable nature should have been avoided and clear love of humanity shown should have been availed upon, so it is time to seek a new world of righteous nature. Kudos to you for composing such a straight-forward and marvellous poem.

SOMETHING I LOOK AT-2
BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY

I regret and lament
those lost moments,
tiny pleasures and little cravings
which will never come back

I will never forgive myself
for the injustice meted out to someone else
and the denial of trifling demands and petty wishes
carefully nurtured and harboured for so long

I regret crucifying life and
making nothing out of everything
lovingly offered and meticulously served
at various stations of life

Smruti Ranjaniji,

Your poem titled"A Look At Life-2"is a poem that dissects the concept of love in a microscopic manner.True love is conveyed through silence,it can set hearts into motions that can generate feelings of oceanic nature in the interiors of the hearts of the two people intimately drawn to each other. The passionate love is done and dusted and the love of sustainability enters the scene without the accompaniment of physicality at all.Love is a greater feeling than lust, the mixing of both is an incompatible and contradictory thing altogether. The true love reaches its Himalayan peak when two individuals attracted to each other remain in silence together seeing the world with a positive frame of minds and with no care in the world.Kudos to you for composing such a poem of exquisite nature.

A LOOK AT LIFE-2
BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY

Silence
Is the language of love
For it speaks a lot
Which a palpitating heart
Can never fathom
Rapid breaths
Can never feel
And drooping eyes
Can ever find

Love matures
Over the years
When one looses
In the other
The body never
Craves for another
And the heart
Meets the heart
Eyes look at
Each other

Love and lust
Are step sisters
Can never co exist
For they run
Parallel to each other

Love unfolds
In silence
When two beings
Become one
And work in tandem
Have a single pair of eyes
To look at the world
A beautiful heart
Which beats and beats
For the sake of love and love

Thanks and gratitude to Prof Cijo Joseph Channel, the eminent poet and literary critic for writing a beautiful critical appreciation on my poem 'A LOOK AT LIFE-6'.Thank you very much, sir, for your wonderful words.

Smruti Ranjaniji,

Your poem titled"A Look At Life-6" is a poem that spells out the types of life, the individuals do have to pursue in their lives which can make them happy and contented. The lives we engage in must be in tune with our behavioural patterns and characteristics, we need to also live our lives in tandem and conformity with nature or in sync with our surroundings in all the ways and means. We human beings are different from one another in various respects one way or the other. So it is imperative that we don't engage in comparisons with others at any stretch of the imagination. Our qualities and refined features culturally and morally set us apart from others in all respects. We all have our natural faculties, abilities and potentialities, there is need to emulate anybody which can put an end to our spontaneous and genuine ways of doing things. Kudos to you for composing such a poem of magnificent nature.

A LOOK AT LIFE-6

Life
To be lived
Close to one's own nature
So typical and different
From the other

Even
Twins are not alike
They have their own
Likes and dislikes
And separate approach to life

The difference is unique
That makes one supreme
Puts him apart from the rest
And gives him a sense
Of his own identity

To imitate
Is to kill oneself
Make a mockery of life
And defy nature's gift
So delicately endowed upon
Each

Smurtiji,

Your poem titled"Something I Look At 65"is a poem that narrates an evergreen love affair that never fades away or withers out,in fact it does have an enduring and endeavouring impact, that teenage love still creates myriad emotions of joy and happiness in the interiors of the interiors of the heart, the freshness of that amorous play is still retained, the exchanges of letters, waiting in the bus stops,in the first encounter in the corridors of the school building and the first occasion of falling in love are adequately and aptly described in the poem, even now when that sensation of love is looked at,the same feelings, emotions and sentiments are aroused.Kudos to you for composing such a well-versed poem.

SOMETHING I LOOK AT-65
BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY

Oh my teen-age love!
you are still in me with all your flavour
that raining sound in the distant forest
and long wait at the bus stop
that pink envelope
hide and seek on the terrace
to have a glimpse of yours
those speaking eyes and rosy lips
that naughty smile and graceful gait
even today i feel

The day I met you in the school corridor
i lost me to you forever
that single encounter made me feel
i am for you and you are for me
just made for each other

Under the captivating spell of love
we flourished and developed
never paid any heed
to what people said
years passed, everything around changed, but our love for each other remained the same

The moments in all their colours
are very much alive
even today when i look at you
i see the same teen age beauty
coming rushing to me with all her love
and life manifesting its true colour and grandeur once more

'A LOOK AT LIFE-7'.Thank you very much, sir, for your wonderful words

Smruti Ranjaniji,

Your poem titled"A Look At Life-7" is a poem that reiterates the idea that ask you will get, search you will find and knock the door will be opened to you. If we go ahead in our lives to seek, to find, not to yield, then successes can be attained out of life because it is not too late to seek a new world. Only through perseverance, hard work, diligence and resilience, the real achievement can be had, mere belief that fortunes can come at the drop of a hat is not ideal at all. It is better to have expectations, but for the fulfilment of those anticipations, we need to work really hard. Only through the hard ways, life can come a full circle wherein all our dreams can be translated into reality one way or the other. Kudos to you for composing such a poem of magnificent nature.

A LOOK AT LIFE-7
BY- SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY

Fortune never makes man
Rather one makes his own
Making a tryst with destiny
Doing nothing and
Expecting things to come by
Is nothing but
Building castles in the air

Lived enough
In anticipation of the unseen
That never came by
Cheated us of the dreams
Once we dreamt
That never saw light
And died one after one

Never fair
To wait for that unusual shower
Better to work and work
To give substance and meaning
To what we desire

Wiser
Not to fool us anymore
And live on the whim of the other
Much better to believe in one's self
And carry that belief
In the efforts we put and the goals we cherish
For the dreams, we dreamt
Are to come by

Smruti Ranjaniji,

Your poem titled"Something I Look at-44"is a poem that is born out of the turbulences faced by the human beings in terms of their lives, the lives we lead here on this earth are filled with ups and downs and ebbs and flows all the way.In this journey of life,we go through many harrowing experiences and we overcome all these nasty experiences using the self-confidence principle inherent within our hearts. The relationship of us with the God Almighty remains always steadfast not because we keep it intact rather he loves us constantly inspite of our sins and shortcomings. The motherly figure in the world works and commits substantially for her son's welfare. Here in the poem, the individual concerned does not harbour any illwill at all at any rate towards anybody rather he/she wishes happiness and satisfaction for one and all.Although there is physical rupture in this relationship, the mental ties are consolidated to the core.Kudos to you for composing such a poem of magnificent nature.

SOMETHING I LOOK AT-44
BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY

So many years of life
so many wounds in the heart
time has healed some
some are still bleeding

With a fragile body
and feeble heart
I am still alive to see you there
where I dreamt you to be

A son may go wrong
a mother can never
a mother is a mother for whom
nothing but wellbeing of her kids matter

With all my wounds
I want to live
to see your world
it's beauty and splendour

I may not be there in your world
but I will feel it
from a distant corner with
all my love and tear

Smurtijj,

Your poem titled "The First Kiss" is a poem that sings hosanna on the magnificent value of poetry in the life of each and everyone of us.The language of poetry melts many hardened hearts, brings pure joy and bliss to one and all, creates waves of good feelings, paves the way for renaissance and revitalisation, generates positive vibes, moulds minds into storehouses of knowledge and wisdom, teaches invaluable lessons, imbibes in us love for nature and her surroundings, inserts in us a feeling of vitality and strength, inbulilds within us imagination, evokes in us aesthetic sensibility and artistic frame of mind and enfolds us with that tenderness, solace, tranquility and sublimity.Kudos to you for composing such a poem of tremendous value and suppleness.

SOMETHING I LOOK AT-112

     THE FIRST KISS

life on earth is poetry
the innate urge to unfold
its grace and beauty is poetry
poetry is the smile on a child's lips
the thread that binds the whole of humanity

poetry is your lover's first kiss
poetry is that pink envelope wherein treasured your love and its beauty
poetry is lover's paradise
a perennial stream of boon and bliss

poetry is those intimate moments you share with your love with lips
locked and soul hugging each other
poetry is meadows and mountains, rivers and rivulets, deserts and oceans and all those which touch you, your heart and soul
with their spellbinding beauty

poetry is that old man's love
who has lost his wife
the anguish, apathy and alienation of
man struggling to live a life
poetry is society, its values and beliefs
sorrows and happiness, unfulfilled desires, shattered dreams and dramas
and hope for a better life

when the earth romances with the first rain
the rays of the rising sun
embraces the blooming lotus, the dancing lily touches the silver moon, when joy and ecstasy know no bounds, when sorrows become too much to bear, the lines of poetry emerge and take you to a world
hitherto unknown

to all these i am a passive onlooker
living a prosaic life with no rhythm and rhyme
for me poetry is a lonely man's lone walk
on the empty corridor of life
my poetry not with me
lost it way since
could not muster enough strength
to tell her i love you
for which i am not me all through

Smruti Ranjanji,

Your poem titled"A Look At Life-43"is a poem of nostalgia and the desolation felt due to the disappearance of the good old days, the days of vibrancy and exuberance are gone, now it is a life of alienation, isolation, loneliness, disappointments and disillusionments, today it is all about having a desertion in terms of life, everything seems lost in the wilderness, the glorious days of the past taunt the thought processes like anything, the futility of building a posh house with all facilities and amenities is so apparent now because the expectations and anticipations of the past are so much belied now, those dreams and aspirations are shattered and battered now,the luxurious aspects of the household are left in ruin nowadays, they hold resplendent memories of the past, but today they are all gone with the winds, only broken images linger on disturbing the individual who is in the whirlpool these nostalgic feelings, the past was weighed down by many possibilities and probabilities culminating in those happy days with children and grandchildren under one roof, but now everything stands compromised because the birds have flown away seeking greener pastures and opportunities elsewhere leaving their parents out their in the lurch to fend for themselves, today all their dreams do remain suspended in the mid-air and they have only each other for company, that is the reality, they need to accept unreservedly nowadays.Kudos to you Smurtiji for composing such an outstanding poem with myriad meanings in it.

A LOOK AT LIFE-43
BY- SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY

No present to live for
no future to look forward to
I was unfolding the pages of life
to feel the beautiful moments I lived
to know the person I was
which is so alien right now

That dilapidated building
my wife's dream
built on my sweat and blood
still stands there
the delicately furnished interiors
with lots of dirt and filth now
laugh at me
telling me how wrong and futile I was
in dreaming a future
that never came by

The broken walls of the house
Persian carpets hanging on it
with coats of dusts remind me
how elegant once they were
how passionately they were decorated
like a bride to welcome my son
and his newly wed

How beautiful and fulfilling life was
the crumbling relics of which now we have
the costly toys and beautiful gadgets
lovingly procured for our grand children
lying dead in a corner
like us they need someone's touch
to come alive again

Recapitulating those glorious days
and fascinating moments
completely lost I was
all of a sudden
I felt someone touching my shoulder
she was non else but
my wife with a cup of tea
passionately looking at me
telling me with a loving smile
'look at me, am I not your whole world?
am I not your dream, present, past and future? when I am here, why are you so sad'
