The Game I dusted myself as I heaved my body up. I could taste blood in my mouth as I spit dust. I did not take a second look at the small patch of red-brown that formed on the ground. My team was gathering in one corner, stretching out arms on each other's shoulders. We huddled and discussed the plan of action as the crowd roared. The rivalry was imminent and so was our fascination with the game. The crowd jeered on one end and cheered on the other, it seemed as if we had crashed into a battle arena right out of Planet Hulk. I drank water and splashed my face as we prepared for assault. I jumped across the chalk line brushing my feet in the dust to guage the length which I could stretch, chanting "Kabaddi Kabaddi" breathless and ever so anxious. The opposing team moved like a wave around the stone avoiding my fake pashes and nudges as I scouted for a breakthrough and also looked at my escape in periphery.
