A beautiful extension of dad and mom Smelling of love, kindness, compassion The folds of their skin hid tales of fun. Wrinkles twinkling with stories galore We grandkids following them like little puppies Their homes, our annual vacation treat. They don't make them like those anymore, it's not a commentary on the current grandparents but genuine appreciation of the olden generation. My maternal grandmother for example, if fortitude and courage and stamina and never die spirit are to be given another name it could be her. Raising six children single handedly since grandfather was a school teacher and was away from home all day teaching and taking tutions to eke out a living having been displaced from now what is Pakistan was no mean job, yet she not only managed to do it but she got a house made overseeing all things herself. How she handled us grandchildren should be experienced as it's hard to explain her loving strictness and pleasing us by giving tit bit surprises which she kept locked up in her cupboard to be given only when she had made us pound her aching legs with our fists.
