She stands, stoic and static-- Oblivious to the teeming crowd Of petrified onlookers Who continue to glare and stare; She refuses to budge, Even when the iniquitous noise Starts to augment The chaos within herself; There, she remains undaunted-- Defiantly glowering, sans any care. One plucks a rock from the ground; Another prepares a slingshot. A few more minutes of respite And a gruesome deluge of stones Begins raining down her visage. She cowers from the attacks-- A half-hearted cover, she enacts; Albeit, the scent of viscous blood Signifies her destined denouement; Her paltry, diaphanous garment Gets stained with scarlet hatred; Yet, no one plans to halt The fated, commenced retribution; A truculent wail echoes All over the festive rostrum; The hyenas cackle and dance.
