It was almost dusk. I was standing adjacent to this lamppost, analysing my features in the shadow it casted of me. And smiling at the boy who was absorbed in playing football in that little beam of light caused by the lamppost, all by himself. Suddenly, his kick on the football was high enough that it hit the lamppost and the glass surrounding its bulb splintered and scattered in the street. The boy walked past while I stood still thinking, Isn't it how our hearts break? From the person we trusted the most, for whom we burned so that they can have a little happiness in their pockets. From the person we least expected it. But the only difference is that I am here to collect its pieces and there's no one to do the same for me.
