Shubh Navratri ***************** Day 5: Maa Skandamata ************************** Fifth day of Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Skandamata. By worshipping Her, devotees seek her blessings for protection, prosperity and success in their endeavours. She also rewards them with salvation, power, wisdom and treasures. She possesses the brilliance of the sun and is depicted with four hands carrying lotus flowers in her upper two hands. Her favourite flowers are red coloured flowers and devotees specially offer Her hibiscus (gudhal). Yellow is the colour of Skandamata which represents joy, optimism, happiness, cheerfulness and brightness. On this day, wearing yellow brings the Goddess's benefits of joy, abundance and harmony. Bananas are Her favourite fruit.
