माँगन मरण समान है, मति माँगो कोई भीख। माँगन ते मरना भला, यह सतगुरु की सीख॥ भावार्थ - कबीरदास जी का मानना है कि किसी से कुछ मांगना अपना अस्तित्व मिटाने जैसा है अर्थात स्वयं के मरने जैसा है।उनका कहना है कि ईश्वर ने जब हमें हर तरह से सक्षम बनाया है तो हमें दूसरों के समक्ष हाथ फैलाने की आवश्यकता क्या है? हमें अपनी मेहनत और उपलब्धियों से जो कुछ भी मिलता है उसमें संतोष से जीने की कोशिश करनी चाहिए और हमें कभी भीख नहीं माँगनी चाहिए क्योंकि माँगना मरने के बराबर है। इसलिए कभी भी दूसरों से भीख न मांगें। Abstract - Kabirdas ji believes that asking for something from someone is tantamount to losing one's existence, it is like dying.
