A disease to please robbed me of my peace. Always sought validation, met all their expectations. Neglected my well-being while I was busy pleasing. Cheated on my own body while I charmed everybody. Attended every party, sipped all of the Barcadi’s. Inhaled some potent chronic, I forgot who I was. I’ve lived most of my life with a chronic disease. I cannot afford to please.
