A Million Dollar Smile
***********************
O' little droughty plant
Are you lacking of life?
Be optimistic, give a smile!
A pitter-patter silky shower
Is just waiting for you.

O' freaking hungry boy
Are you lacking of liveliness?
Be optimistic, give a smile!
A mouth-watering yummy dish
Is just waiting for you.

O' struggling restless man
Are you lacking of livelihood?
Be optimistic, give a smile!
A breath-taking golden opportunity
Is just waiting for you.

O' dear lovely lady
Are you lacking of infant joy?
Be optimistic, give a smile!
A cry-baby with a million dollar smile
Is just waiting for you.

My two cents on #Balochistan 24-12-2023 #Life

There is a thin line between being anti-estab/ anti-dictatorship and being anti-Pakistan.
The words like “genocide” or “state” means that things are being referred to as a crime of “Pakistan” not the mafia that has occupied us. Be careful, my people.
I have expressed support for these protestors. I can even provide them space and resources as my guests if asked but I am wary of some of the words that are being used.
Greta Thunberg & many other people did not say anything about the tyranny in Pakistan since 10 April 2022. They did not say anything about the military operations in KP (erstwhile FATA). They did not utter a word when civilian leadership and their public support was ridiculed by the same junta, not today not yesterday but for seventy-six long years. I see this sudden sympathy suspiciously. I commend their concern for my Balochistan, however the terms they have carefully picked are suspicious. Moreover, presence of chameleons like Hamid Mir make it more doubtful.
As per Merriam-Webster, “the deliberate and systematic destruction of a racial, political, or cultural group” is known as genocide. What has happened in Balochistan has been a kind of fascism which is ‘a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control’. If we look at the situation of Pakistan as a whole, it has been the same throughout. However, in Balochistan it has been more intense. What happened in Bangladesh (EP) was same in early years and turned into genocide in latter part.
Having stayed in Balochistan and having observed the chemical composition of the province as well as the cosmetic measures taken by the govt/authority, I have reached a few conclusions and have a few concerns. Recent turn of events has made me rethink & write some of those points.
1) Issue of Missing Persons is dire. It is not as simple as it looks. Military rulers need to direct the civilian govts/ legislature (which are in effect controlled by them) to draft laws which ensure that anyone who gets involved in anti-Pakistan activities gets punished according to those laws. Baad mein ye na kaha jaye k g chunky adalatain chhor deti hain qavaneen kamzor hain tou iss liye mawrae adalat aese iqdam ki idaro ko chhut hasil hai. Ye haqeeqat roz-e-roshan ki tarha ayaan hai k kon dorain hilata hai hukumat/adalat ki, ya tou ap tauba karain apne iss sharmnak kirdar sy ya phir ye bahanay mat banayain.
2) People’s representatives in Balochistan (& in Pakistan as a whole) should be elected by the people. Each and every person moving in the streets of Quetta, Kalat, Mastung or Panjgur knows what previous CM Bln “Mir Asif Ghafoor Bizenjo” has been doing in the province for PDM (predominantly in favour of zardari group) this time. Buying loyalties of same old faces like you buy cows or sheep in the market is not going to benefit Pakistan. Infact, it will further turn the mindsets of masses against you. Aren’t 76 years enough to learn our lesson?
3) Provincialism & Separatist factions have always looked for favourable conditions. In South of Balochistan, you have Baloch separatists while in the North you have Pashtun separatists. Not going into the numbers & extent of the support they get or don’t get from general public, I have to say that they get benefit of the fact that people of Balochistan do not have the right of Self-determination (It applies to people of Punjab, Sindh, KP, AJK, GB as well but those regions have had different history of relationship with Pakistan’s federation). In terms of definition, “Self-determination theory suggests that all humans have three basic psychological needs—autonomy, competence, and relatedness—that underlie growth and development”. Tell me what is Pakistan (it’s controllers of affairs) offering to these people? This gives ground to ethno-nationalism & sense of frustration.
4) Pakistani troops in Balochistan need to be given better equipment & resources. The money obtained through Fauji Foundation, DHA, balloting & farming needs to be invested more in the wellbeing of on-ground soldiers rather than those who are retiring. It should definitely not benefit the Star Ranks who already enjoy the perks and privileges by fair and unfair means. I have maintained this disgruntling feeling that my brothers in uniform are scapegoated in the name of defence and patriotism. That blood is used as bargaining-tool by some & propaganda-material by others whenever their own superciliousness is questioned. In other countries like US or even India, loss of one jawan is considered as something close to a calamity. They take measures (atleast apparently) to avenge that loss. In our country, number of martyrs is considered as a scale of how much the institution has sacrificed for Pakistan & a base of how much should the military elite be blindly allowed to dictate terms. I always ask: when you could have resolved things, why did you allow them to escalate? Then why did you send soldiers out there to die like nothing?
5) The policy makers (policy controllers rather) should accept their mistakes, tell the ‘nation’ about their wrong actions instead of just bragging for themselves & dragging the others. They should accept that military operations in Balochistan in early days of this country were not rightly managed. Was there a need for those Ops should also be debated. Ops are followed by talks (with the winner on ground uses his superiority on table). How did we follow up? When, for instance, the rebels led by Nowroz Khan fighting the force of Tikka Khan had agreed on laying arms in lieu of amnesty, why were they arrested and penalised? Apparently they were tricked by you. What would've been the instant reaction of this shameful act in people’s minds? The same Tikka Khan led the barbarism against EP & is believed to have said “I want the land and not the people”. He earned the title “Butcher of Bengal”. How did he continue in the Army & later came to be known as “Butcher of Balochistan”? Serious introspection is needed. Things are almost the same; no answerability whatsoever.
6) There is absolutely no relation between BLA & Hamas, Balochistan & Palestine. Balochistan’s accession is a reality plus Balochistan’s people don’t and can’t consider it as a land occupied by foreigners. Israel on the other hand is an illegitimate state. Israel (the territory) itself is a part of Palestine if you think in that way. BLA is a militant organization that uses the sentiments of dissented or destitute for it's vested interests. They are and will be supported by the enemies of Pakistan. What else can we expect from enemies? The best solution to BLA & derivatives is the upgradation and overhaul of lives of common public. That obviously can only be done through some of the steps mentioned above. You can not win it though the same practice of picking your calves as the rulers of living beings one hand and using force on the other. They should be made accountable to the public opinion, only then can the situation improve. Otherwise mothers will keep giving birth to both the soldiers and the militants; we’ll keep getting them killed for no outcome. As far as Hamas is concerned, I consider it as a group that is influenced by Israelis themselves too. What Hamas did on 7 Oct gave reason to IDF to unleash havoc. Was it a false flag? Upto you to decide.
7) All those geniuses who threw Pakistan into others wars; be it in Waziristan or Balochistan should be named and shamed at all levels. If they are alive, they need to be given exemplary punishment & if they are dead, their corpses need to be dragged out and hanged. It is harsh but the loss of lives, prestige and sovereignty faced by Pakistan over the years is more harsh and heartbreaking.
8) I don’t expect much from the current regime as it's own foundations are weak, appointments have been controversial & the chances for redressal seem bleak.
